Mini Muster season is officially underway!

Yesterday, we kicked off our first Mini Muster of the year. Mini Musters offers several activities for students, including using a small fire hose, racing in a bucket brigade, following hose lines to safety while blindfolded, practicing home escape skills in an obstacle course, and practicing how to safely escape a home fire in our Inflatable Safety House with simulated smoke.

These activities help reinforce the fire safety skills they’ve worked on in the classroom. We’re looking forward to visiting more schools throughout the season!

Our crew members recently visited a group of preschool students in our District for a turnout gear demonstration and fire engine tour, giving them a chance to see our equipment up close and learn more about what firefighters do.

Today, we recognize Arizona First Responders Day, a day to show our appreciation and pay tribute to first responders across our state, both past and present.

We’re grateful for the dedication of those who answer the call, serve others, and work every day to help protect the safety of their communities.

Saturday Spotlight: Facilities Team!

Our Facilities Team is responsible for maintaining all of Northwest Fire District’s properties, including 11 fire stations that need to remain operational 24/7.

Their work helps keep our stations and other District facilities safe, functional, and ready for the people who work in them to serve our community.

The excitement begins! October is Fire Prevention Month, and across the District, we’re getting ready for a month full of fire prevention education, community activities, mini musters, and more!

There’s lots of great information to share, and we can’t wait to bring it to our community throughout the month. A huge thank you to our Governing Board Members for supporting these efforts by adopting October as Fire Prevention Month at last night’s board meeting!

The theme of Fire Prevention Month and Fire Prevention Week this year is “Charge Into Fire Safety. Safe Charging Is a Superpower.” It focuses on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.

Falls Prevention Fair!

We’re highlighting this free upcoming community event focused on helping older adults stay safe, active, and independent. Join our partners at Banner University Medicine Tucson and the University of Arizona Department of Surgery for interactive demonstrations, health and wellness resources, practical fall-prevention information, and a free lunch for attendees. Family members and caregivers are welcome and encouraged to attend!
