Porter County CASA

Porter County CASA CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. CASAs represent the best interests of abused and neglected children in court.

The Porter County CASA program is part of the Family Youth Services Bureau, and supported by the Porter County Circuit Court. The program is designed to recruit, train, and support volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children right here in Porter County. Our mission is to help children find their way to a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. CASA volunteers are appointed by the court magistrate to help determine the needs of these children and speak for them in court.

Every small act of care helps build a safer world for kids.

Reading a book to a child. Asking a teen how their day really went. Supporting a foster family in your community. Donating to programs that center children's well-being.

Child abuse prevention isn’t just about what we stop, it’s about what we create: safety, connection, and a sense of belonging. 💙

Sometimes, a child’s behavior is telling us more than their words. Withdrawal, sudden changes in mood, or struggles in school can all be signs that something isn’t right. While we may not always know what’s happening behind the scenes, showing up with kindness, patience, and consistency can make a world of difference.💙

For children in foster care, sibling relationships can be a vital source of comfort, identity, and stability. But these bonds can be disrupted due to placement challenges or safety concerns.

At CASA, we know how important it is to protect those connections. Our volunteers advocate for the best interests of children—including helping ensure sibling relationships are honored and supported whenever possible.

To every CASA volunteer and community member working to keep siblings connected—thank you! Your voice matters.💙

Every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and valued. But for kids who have experienced abuse or neglect, just one consistent, caring adult can make all the difference. Research shows that a strong relationship with a trusted adult is one of the most important factors in helping children heal and thrive.✨

Take a moment to think about an adult who made a difference in your life. Imagine the impact we can have when we show up for kids who need that same support. 💙

Every child deserves a safe and supportive environment to grow and thrive. This month, we’re raising awareness about the role each of us can play in protecting children and strengthening families.

Throughout April, we’ll be sharing ways to take action—big and small—to help create a world where all children feel safe, valued, and heard. Stay tuned, get involved, and help us spread the word.

Because prevention starts with all of us. 💙

We love hearing why our CASAs volunteer for children in need! ❤

From the article: "While preventing adverse childhood experiences remains crucial, fostering positive experiences is equally important, Bethell says. 'It implicates all of us because those positive experiences happen in our communities, schools, and homes,' she says. “Even if we can’t make the negative go away, we should never underestimate the power of our care and nurturance."

We couldn't agree more! ❤

Adversity in childhood can affect our health later in life. But positive childhood experiences also have a profound impact.
