The program is designed to recruit, train, and support volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children right here in Porter County. Our mission is to help children find their way to a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. CASA volunteers are appointed by the court magistrate to help determine the needs of these children and speak for them in court.

🌟 A MEANINGFUL NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION 🌟

Typically resolutions focus on self-improvement. This year, why not resolve to do something even more lasting? Advocate for a child who’s suffered abuse and neglect.

Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer and receive comprehensive training to advocate for the needs of children in foster care. CASA volunteers come from diverse backgrounds, yet share a common passion for making a difference in the lives of kids.

Many CASAs find this experience to be incredibly rewarding, making a genuine impact on the lives of children and families.

Becoming an advocate for foster children could be the most meaningful resolution you make, not just for this year but for any year! 🌈✨

We love reading stories about how children were helped by their CASA volunteer!! 💕

From the article: "[My CASA's] dedication ensured that we were not only placed in a safe and suitable new home, but it also empowered us to have a voice in our care. CASA’s intervention made all the difference, giving us the strength to overcome adversity. This May, I was the first person in my biological family to graduate from college."

CASA played a vital role in my life as a former foster youth, as well as in the life of my sister.

From the article: An online portal has been created where people interested in becoming a foster parent or helping serve foster families, as well as individuals currently involved in child welfare can find all of the information they need in one place. “There will be combined unified marketing to say, ‘Let’s get the word out that we want everyone to be all in for Indiana’s kids,'” Roth said. “And along with that, then there’s going to be a really simple, easy first step for people, which is, I think, the really unique part, because in the past, it just wasn’t there.”

Noblesville-based not-for-profit Hands of Hope and The Contingent, a not-for-profit in Portland Oregon, on Tuesday announced the launch of Every Child Indiana. Executive Director Suzy Roth said the goal is to reverse the idea of "not enough" in child welfare.

From the article: The holidays are commonly associated with family and togetherness, and bring up – and out – a lot of conflicting feelings and emotions for those not being cared for by their biological parents. In one recent informal poll of foster youth, over 80 percent of them said they miss their families during the holiday season.

What can foster parents (now called Resource Parents) and others do to make foster youth feel more comfortable around the holidays?

The Indian Child Welfare Act was borne out of the forced removal of one out of every three children from their homes in the late 1970’s. This issue is far fr...
