🧼✨ World Hand Hygiene Day ✨🧼

At Richland County Health Department, we know that clean hands save lives!
This World Hand Hygiene Day, take a moment to remember how something as simple as washing your hands can help prevent the spread of illness and protect those around you. Whether you're at home, work, or out in the community, good hand hygiene is one of the easiest and most effective ways to stay healthy.

✔️ Wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
✔️ Use hand sanitizer when soap isn’t available
✔️ Remember to wash before eating and after coughing, sneezing, or being in public spaces

Let’s all do our part to keep our communities safe and healthy—one wash at a time! 💙

💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Mental health is an important part of our overall well-being—just like physical health. It affects how we think, feel, and act, and plays a role in how we handle stress, relate to others, and make decisions.

At Richland County Health Department, we want you to know: it’s okay to not be okay. Taking care of your mental health can look different for everyone, but small steps can make a big impact.

✨ Check in with yourself and others
✨ Make time for rest and activities you enjoy
✨ Reach out for support when you need it

You are not alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available right here in our community:

📞 Call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline (24/7, free & confidential)
📞 Dial 2-1-1 (FirstLink) for help finding local resources and services
🤝 Local behavioral health providers and regional human service centers offer counseling and support

Let’s work together to break the stigma and support mental wellness in our community. 💚

“It’s okay to make mistakes—I’m proud of you for being honest.” 💬💡

Today is Honesty Day and we want to celebrate the power of open communication! Teaching kids that honesty is valued helps them feel safe and supported when opening up.

Whether it’s about school, friendships or challenges they’re facing, showing pride in their honesty creates a foundation for trust and understanding. 🩵

Today is National Fentanyl Awareness Day—a reminder of the ongoing dangers of illegally made fentanyl.

While overdose deaths in the U.S. have dropped by about 25% over the past year, that progress is slowing. Illegally made fentanyl continues to be the leading cause, and young people are especially at risk due to counterfeit pills.

Prevention saves lives. Carry naloxone, know the signs of an overdose, and help spread awareness.

Richland County offers free Narcan and Narcan education. Stop in or call 701-642-7735 to learn more.
