🚨 Immigration Update: New USCIS Adjustment of Status Policy Guidance
You may have seen headlines or social media posts about a new USCIS policy memo related to Adjustment of Status (the process many people use to apply for a green card from within the United States).
Here's what we know:
✅ Adjustment of Status remains legal and available under current immigration law.
✅ USCIS is still accepting and processing green card applications.
✅ Family-based and employment-based pathways have NOT been eliminated.
What has changed is that USCIS officers may apply greater discretion when reviewing some applications. This could lead to more requests for additional evidence, increased scrutiny, and less predictability in some cases.
Our advice: Don't panic, and don't rely on rumors.
Every immigration case is different. Before making important decisions about travel, withdrawing an application, or changing your immigration strategy, speak with a trusted immigration legal service provider or qualified immigration attorney.
✔️ Keep your appointments.
✔️ Continue gathering important documents.
✔️ Stay connected to trusted organizations for updates.
❌ Avoid notarios and unlicensed consultants.
This policy may create uncertainty, but it does not eliminate pathways to lawful permanent residency.
