🇩🇿🇺🇸 Diplomacy | High-Level Meeting

President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is currently receiving Mr. Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Africa and Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs.

It is with profound sorrow that we learned of the passing today in New York of Algerian activist Eileen Klein Mokhtefi, wife of the late freedom fighter Mokhtar Mokhtefi.

Eileen Mokhtefi’s name will forever be remembered in Algeria for her unwavering commitment to the Algerian people’s struggle for freedom and independence, which she supported from the 1950s onward.

After independence, she chose Algeria as her home, contributing to journalism, culture, and the causes of liberation movements across the developing world, including the organization of the 1969 Pan-African Cultural Festival in Algeria and she was a member of the Association of Friends of the Algerian Revolution.

Last July, she was granted Algerian citizenship by presidential decree of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, honoring a lifetime of commitment and devotion to Algeria.

On this sad occasion, Ambassador Sabri Boukadoum and the staff of the Embassy of Algeria in Washington extend the deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.

May Eileen Mokhtefi rest in eternal peace.

ببالغ الحزن والأسى، تلقينا نبأ وفاة المناضلة الجزائرية إيلين كلاين مختفي، حرم المجاهد الراحل مختار مختفي، اليوم بنيويورك٠

سيظل اسم إيلين مختفي خالدًا في ذاكرة الجزائر، لما جسدته من وفاء والتزام بنضال الشعب الجزائري من أجل الحرية والاستقلال، منذ خمسينيات القرن الماضي. وبعد الاستقلال، اختارت الجزائر وطنًا لها، وأسهمت في الحياة الصحفية والثقافية، وفي دعم قضايا التحرر في العالم الثالث، كما شاركت في تنظيم المهرجان الثقافي الإفريقي بالجزائر سنة 1969 وكانت أحد أعضاء جمعية أصدقاء الثورة الجزائرية ٠

وقد نالت في شهر جويلية الماضي الجنسية الجزائرية بمرسوم من رئيس الجمهورية السيد عبد المجيد تبون، تتويجًا لمسيرة طويلة من الوفاء للجزائر٠

وبهذه المناسبة الأليمة، يتقدم السفير صبري بوقدوم وطاقم سفارة الجزائر بواشنطن، إلى عائلة الفقيدة وذويها بأصدق عبارات التعازي والمواساة٠

رحم الله إيلين مختفي وأسكنها فسيح جناته٠

More than two centuries after the Treaty of Peace and Friendship laid the foundation for relations between Algeria and the United States, our partnership continues to evolve and grow.

Our shared history remains a source of inspiration, while the progress achieved in recent years reflects a common commitment to dialogue, mutual respect, and a forward-looking partnership.

As we look to the future, there is still so much potential to explore and so many opportunities to bring our two peoples closer together.

بعد أكثر من قرنين على توقيع معاهدة السلام والصداقة التي أرست أسس العلاقات بين الجزائر والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، تواصل شراكتنا تطورها ونموها.

وتظلّ ذاكرتنا التاريخية المشتركة مصدر إلهام، فيما يعكس ما تحقق خلال السنوات الأخيرة التزامنا المشترك بالحوار والاحترام المتبادل وبناء شراكة تتطلع إلى المستقبل.

وإذ نتطلع إلى المستقبل، تظل أمامنا آفاق واعدة وفرص عديدة لتعزيز الروابط بين شعبينا وتوسيع مجالات التعاون بين بلدينا.
