A warm and memorable welcome was extended by Mayor Brad Finkeldei and the City of Lawrence to Ambassador Sabri Boukadoum and the Algerian delegation ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

As the host city of Algeria’s national team during the tournament, Lawrence marked this special occasion with an exchange of commemorative gifts symbolizing friendship, mutual respect, and the strong bonds between our communities. An authentic Algerian artisanal piece showcasing the beauty of traditional zellige craftsmanship was presented to the City of Lawrence, while Mayor Finkeldei offered a remarkable painting of the Algerian Fennec, created by a talented young artist from Lawrence.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the City of Lawrence, its residents, the Mayor and his dedicated staff, as well as the Lawrence Police Department, for their outstanding hospitality, warm welcome, and unwavering support as Algeria embarks on this historic World Cup journey.

حضر السفير صبري بوقدوم حفل إحياء يوم إفريقيا 2026 الذي احتضنه المتحف الوطني للفن الإفريقي التابع لمؤسسة سميثسونيان بواشنطن، والمنظم هذه السنة تحت شعار الاتحاد الإفريقي: «ضمان استدامة توفر المياه وأنظمة الصرف الصحي الآمنة». وتندرج هذه المشاركة في إطار الاحتفاء بالإرث الإفريقي المشترك وتعزيز تطلعات شعوب القارة نحو مستقبل أكثر ازدهارا ووحدةواستدامة، تجسيدا لرؤية .

Ambassador Sabri Boukadoum attended the Commemorative Reception at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington, D.C., held under the African Union theme: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems.” The event was an opportunity to celebrate Africa’s shared heritage, strengthen the bonds that unite its peoples, and reaffirm a collective commitment to a more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future for the continent in the spirit of .

The Embassy of Algeria proudly showcased Algeria’s rich cultural heritage through a dedicated booth featuring traditional Algerian couscous, Algerian tea, traditional pastries, and displays of traditional Algerian attire and craftsmanship.
A wonderful opportunity to share Algeria’s culture and traditions with representatives of the African Diplomatic Corps, U.S. administration Officials, civil society organizations, and distinguished guests.
