The Wichita Music Census will launch soon, and we need your help to spread the word and encourage Wichitans--anyone 18 and older who contributes to our city's music community in any way--to participate! This census, led by Sound Music Cities in partnership with City of Wichita- Government, Wichita State University WSU School of Art, Design and Creative Industries, Movement Musick & Kansas Arts Commission, is the first step to help determine the current needs, challenges, and opportunities for Wichita’s multifaceted music ecosystem.

Want to help shape the Wichita music scene? 🎵 🎶

Wichita is part of Kansas Music Cities Together, a year-long program to help Kansas communities better support their local music ecosystems. We’re looking for many voices, including organizations and individuals like you, to help us spread the word when the survey launches. The commitment itself is small: we just ask that you share the census with your network and encourage people to participate.

Heads up: Improvements are coming to135th from Central to 13th Street

A public information meeting for the project will be held
- 6 p.m.
- Monday, June 8
- Wichita Fire Station 21, 2110 N 135th Street

This project will reconstruct 135th Street West from Central to 13th Street North to include one through lane in each direction and a center two-way left-turn lane. A 10-foot-wide multi-use path along the west side and a 6-foot-wide sidewalk on the east side of 135th Street will be constructed. The project will also include drainage
improvements along 135th Street.

During construction, 135th Street from Central to 13thwill be one lane northbound only, except during temporary full closures required for storm sewer installation. Southbound traffic will be detoured to 119th Street at 13th Street. Beginning in June, 135th Street will close to all traffic to allow for the installation of several storm sewer structures. Additional temporary full closures along 135th Street will occur during later phases of the project to allow for the installation of storm sewer pipe crossings.

During these closures, 135th Street will remain open to northbound and southbound traffic up to the closure point. Traffic on
135th Street will be detoured to 119th Street at Central and 13th Street during these closures.

Electronic message signs will notify motorists in advance of any closures.
