October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and right now is the perfect time to learn how you can help.

Whether you volunteer, donate, share educational resources, or simply start conversations about healthy relationships, every action contributes to a safer community.

At Family Crisis Shelter, we provide confidential support, advocacy, emergency shelter services, and prevention education throughout Northwest North Dakota.

Mark your calendars! Concordia Lutheran Church is hosting a Community Food Drive to benefit Family Crisis Shelter, and we'd love your support!

📍 Cash Wise in Watford City

As we continue serving survivors and their children across Williams, McKenzie, and Divide Counties, the need for food and household essentials continues to grow. Donations from our community help stock our shelter pantries, provide daily meals, and fill emergency food boxes for families as they transition into safe, permanent housing.

We're accepting a variety of items, including:
🥫 Pantry staples
🥣 Breakfast and snack foods
🍝 Easy-to-prepare meals
🧂 Cooking essentials
🧻 Household supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent, and trash bags

Every donation—whether it's one item or a cart full—helps provide comfort, stability, and hope to local families.

💜 Come See Us at the Olive Motherhood Foundation Color Run! 💜

Family Crisis Shelter is out in the community today supporting the Olive Motherhood Foundation Color Run, and we brought some goodies to share! 🫶

🧼 Stop by our booth and grab a FREE goodie pack filled with everyday essentials.

And don’t forget, the registration fee for the Color Run is simply a pack of diapers or wipes, helping Olive Motherhood Foundation continue supporting moms and families in our community. 💕

We also want our community to know that Family Crisis Shelter is here for so much more than emergency shelter. We provide resources, advocacy, prevention education, outreach, basic necessities, referrals, and support to individuals and families throughout our communities. You do not have to stay at our shelter to reach out, receive support, or utilize many of our services. 💜

We have some exciting things happening at Family Crisis Shelter, and we’re looking for community members who want to be part of them!

❤️ Giving Hearts Day Committee
We are officially participating in Giving Hearts Day 2027! 🎉 As we begin planning for our first Giving Hearts Day campaign, I’m putting together a committee to help brainstorm ideas, spread the word, make community connections, and help us make the most of this incredible day of giving.

🎉 Family Crisis Shelter Community Events Committee
We’re also creating an events Committee to help us dream up, plan, promote, and bring our upcoming community events and fundraisers to life throughout the year. If you like being out in the community and doing booths this is for you!!

Whether you love event planning, marketing, fundraising, decorating, networking, volunteering, coming up with creative ideas, or simply want another way to support our mission, we would LOVE to have you involved!

You can join one committee or both, and you don’t have to be an event-planning expert. We’re looking for people who care about our community and want to help. 💜
