Motorists should be advised that road work is taking place today on Route 62 at Woburn Street, in front of the Harnden Tavern.

The work is expected to cause significant traffic delays in the area. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternate routes if possible.

Please use caution when traveling through the area and follow all traffic directions from construction personnel and police officers.

🚔Traffic Tuesday 🚔
Over the last few days, the Wilmington Police Department, working in conjunction with the Wilmington Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) responded to numerous reports of trees, branches, and wires down throughout town as a result of the Nor' easter.

These incidents required coordination to keep the roadways safe, address hazards, assist with traffic control, and work with our DPW and utility partners to get effected roadways cleared and reopened as soon as possible.

In addition to responding to storm related calls for service, officers conducted 71 motor vehicle stops around town for various traffic related offenses. These stops resulted in 3 individuals being criminally charged. The criminal charges were for Operating with a Suspended License, Operating after Revocation, and Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol.

As always, if you see a traffic concern or roadway hazard, please report it to us so we can address it appropriately. You may not always see us, but we are out there!

This morning, members of the Wilmington, and Tewksbury Police Departments were grateful to attend a special Mass at the Parish of the Transfiguration recognizing and honoring first responders.

Wilmington Police Lt. Matthew Stavro, Sgt. Kevin Cavanaugh and Executive Assistant Dawn Naimo were joined by Tewksbury Police Community Services Officer Jacob Saad, Father Joseph, and several parishioners who previously served as first responders.

The gathering was held in recognition of the Feast of St. Michael and the Archangels and provided an opportunity for the parish community to show its appreciation and support for those who serve.

Thank you to Father Joseph and everyone at the Parish of the Transfiguration for the warm welcome and for taking the time to recognize first responders from our communities. We truly appreciate the continued support.

Glen Road is closed to through traffic between Harden Street and Main Street due to a motor vehicle crash last night. Traffic is being detoured via Harnden Street. Faulkner Ave is accessible via Main Street.

**ROAD CLOSURE ALERT - SALEM STREET**
There is a road closure due to emergency water main repairs in the area of Salem Street near Valyn Lane. Traffic is being detoured at Cunningham Street and Middlesex Avenue. Residents will have access to their homes. For residents that live between 203 Salem Street and Middlesex Ave can access their homes from Middlesex Avenue. Residents between Cunningham Street and Valyn Lane can access their homes from the Tewksbury side of Salem Street. Detours will be posted.
The work is expected to take several hours.

Today marks one year since we lost Zena.
In her short time with the Wilmington Police Department, Zena touched the lives of countless officers, residents, students, seniors, and community members. She had a special ability to bring comfort, joy, and a little peace to those who needed it most. Zena was more than a therapy dog. She was a member of our WPD family and a beloved part of our community. One year later, she is still missed and never forgotten, and will always remain in our hearts.

The Wilmington Department of Public Works will be grinding and resurfacing the following roadways beginning on Wednesday, Sept 23:
Burlington Ave (Boutwell Street to Roberts Road)
School Street
Middlesex Ave (North Wilmington RR Tracks to High Street)

Local residents will have access to their properties, although there may be short delays. Please see detour maps below for more information on road closures.

Please obey the directives of police details, detour signs, and warning signs during all construction operations. Please do not park on the street during operations.
