Yesterday was a very successful training day! We practiced below-grade rappelling and confined space entry into an underground tunnel, culminating in a simulated victim rescue scenario. Great teamwork, communication, and hands-on experience made for an outstanding day of training. Proud of everyone’s professionalism and dedication to staying prepared for real-world emergencies.

Attention!

Tomorrow afternoon, you will notice a large fire and rescue presence at Pleau’s Market. There is no need for alarm—this is a scheduled training drill for our members and Special Operations Team.

As always, we will remain available to respond to emergency calls throughout the exercise.

We sincerely appreciate Pleau’s Market for allowing us to use their parking lot and look forward to a productive training

Last night, the Winslow Fire Academy Class of 2026 officially graduated!

Since January, these cadets have been challenged both academically and physically in the classroom and on the training grounds. Their hard work, determination, and commitment led them to complete their Firefighter I/II Pro Board written and practical skills examinations.

We couldn’t be more proud of everything they have accomplished and wish each of them the very best as they begin the next chapter of their firefighting careers.

This year’s academy graduated six new firefighters. While only three graduates are pictured, three additional cadets were unable to be in the photos. Congratulations to all six graduates—we are proud of each and every one of you!

The Winslow Fire Academy holds one academy each year, beginning every January. If you’ve ever thought about answering the call and serving your community, keep an eye out for information on our next academy class. We’d love to see you take the first step toward joining the fire service!

This evening, Winslow Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire at a local business.

Upon arrival, crews found smoke showing from the eaves and fire venting from side window. A second alarm was requested, bringing in our mutual aid partners to assist.

Thanks to the aggressive actions of our firefighters and the implementation of our new staffing levels, crews were able to quickly knock down the fire and prevent it from spreading further. Because of this coordinated effort, a local business was saved, and the owner is expected to be back up and running in no time.

A sincere thank you to all of our mutual aid partners for their rapid response and hard work. Incidents like this truly take a village, and we are fortunate to have such strong partnerships and resources throughout our region. Working together makes outcomes like this possible.

Great job to everyone involved
