Wooster Community Hospital is an invaluable partner to the Wayne County Board of DD for the 2026 Summer Internship Program. The hospital served as an offsite job exploration site, giving Wayne County students aged 14–21 a unique, hands-on look at healthcare careers and essential workforce training. We are excited to see students explore job opportunities and build their job skills this summer! A huge shoutout to the amazing East of Chicago Pizza in Wooster who welcomed Wayne County students this summer! Through the Wayne County Summer Internship program, local youth aged 14–21 get to explore various vocational training and work opportunities. The interns jumped right into the action, mastering kitchen operations and tackling the ultimate pizzeria rite of passage: folding mountains of pizza boxes! Every folded box means a hot meal delivered faster to our community. This program teaches essential real-world skills: Speed and accuracy under pressure. Workplace independence and responsibility . Thank you to these hardworking students for bringing your energy to this jobsite. You are the future of Wayne County's workforce!

A huge thank you to Traveling Tom's Coffee Truck for stopping by our summer camp today!
After a long, hard day of summer Internship and activities, our students had the amazing opportunity to learn all about how a mobile coffee business operates. To wrap up the day, students had the opportunity to order and enjoy some well-deserved, specialized drinks! We are so grateful for your time, your delicious beverages, and for inspiring our campers.

Wayne County Board of DD is looking for community volunteers to help coach our Special Olympics athletes. Our teams are growing fast, and we need more willing people to help us expand and offer even more opportunities to athletes across Wayne County. You don’t need prior coaching experience - though knowledge of sports is helpful - as we work to equip our athletes with the skills and confidence they need for competition. Coaches show kindness, patience, and a commitment to follow through and serve our amazing athletes.
