On Denim Day, we wear denim as a visible protest and reminder that your appearance is never an invitation for sexual assault. This annual campaign occurs on the last Wednesday in April during Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Teal is the official color for SAAM symbolizing support, prevention, and healing. Denim Day began after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a r**e conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans. From that, jeans and denim began to be worn to protest the myths about sexual assault. To learn more, visit https://www.denimdayinfo.org/why-denim

Megan M. Frederick, 33, and Sherwood D. Johnson II, 37 are currently awaiting extradition to Sutter County following their arrest in Spokane County, Washington. Both individuals were wanted on nationwide felony warrants issued out of Sutter County in connection with the tragic death of a child. The warrants stem from an investigation by the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office into allegations of extreme child cruelty and neglect involving a victim under the age of 15. The nature of the neglect was so severe that it resulted in the child's death. We extend our sincere gratitude to our law enforcement partners in Washington for their diligence in locating these individuals and ensuring they were taken into custody without incident. Our office is committed to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our community.
