✨Inspiring other people to look for the goodness ✨

It's one of the values that has shaped Ann Kasprzak's almost 40-year career in child protection and her commitment to helping children and young people find their voice.

A huge congratulations to Ann, from Centacare Catholic Community Services, on receiving the Minister for Child Protection Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent SA Child Protection & Family Support Awards 👏🏼

As part of National Carers Week, the Department for Child Protection SA (DCP) welcomed Grandcarers SA CEO Mike Feszczak and social worker Sue for afternoon tea with staff.

Grandcarers SA supports grandparents and other kinship carers who have taken on the full-time care of children in their family. The organisation provides practical advice, information, referrals and peer support, helping carers navigate challenges and build connections within their communities.

Sue, who is a grandcarer herself, shared her personal experiences with staff. Her heartfelt story moved many in the room and offered a powerful insight into the love, commitment and resilience that carers bring to their role.

The afternoon was an opportunity to learn more about Grandcarers SA’s work and recognise the important contribution carers make to children’s safety, wellbeing and connection to family.

Thank you to Mike and Sue for joining us and sharing their knowledge and experiences.

This National Carers Week, we acknowledge and thank carers for the difference they make in children’s lives every day.

What does child protection really look like behind the scenes?

We invited The Advertiser to shadow two of our social workers to see the work undertaken by Department for Child Protection staff firsthand.

Every day, our staff work in complex and challenging circumstances, making decisions that have a significant impact on the safety, wellbeing and futures of children, young people and families.

By opening our doors to the media in this way, we're aiming to build greater understanding of the realities of child protection work and the dedicated people behind it. Their expertise, compassion and commitment play a critical role in helping keep children and young people safe.

Toddlers ingesting m**h, knife threats - it’s all part of a regular day for frontline workers in one of the country's most secretive, but important, lines of work.

We celebrated some amazing work being done across the state to support children and families, at last week's SA Child Protection & Family Support Awards.

The ceremony, held at Adelaide Oval, was a partnership with NAPCAN.

📹 Today, we're proud to share this highlights video, which captures Friday's celebrations.

Thanks again to the sponsors who made this event possible - Lutheran Care, AnglicareSA, Centacare, Centacare Catholic Country SA, Hendercare Foundation, Junction and SYC.
