When you choose to study at a Queensland Government school, you’re not just planning for today — you’re preparing for the future 🚀

After high school, students can explore different pathways, with two of the most common being university and vocational education and training (VET). Both options can lead to rewarding and meaningful careers, depending on each student’s interests and goals.

A Queensland education helps students build confidence, develop practical skills and discover the pathway that’s right for them.

It’s completely natural to wonder how your child will make friends when starting school in a new country. We know many parents share this same concern when thinking about moving to Queensland, Australia.

The good news is that students are not expected to navigate this on their own.

💙 Teachers help students connect with their classmates through group learning, classroom activities and everyday school experiences.
🎨 Sports, creative subjects and playground time also give students many opportunities to build friendships and feel part of the school community.
📚 For students who are still learning English, additional language support helps them feel more confident communicating with both teachers and classmates.

For many international students, these shared experiences quickly help them feel welcome and at home in their new school environment. 🤗

Happy Queensland Day! 🌞

Today marks the anniversary of Queensland becoming its own state, and we love any excuse to celebrate the place we call home.

We asked EQI Insiders Vaarin and Martine from Southport State High School to share some of their favourite photos from studying here, and this is what they gave us. We love it!

Diverse, adventurous and full of opportunity, Queensland really is something special. We might be biased, but we think it's one of the best places in the world to study. 💙

Australia recently ranked 3rd in the world for career and education opportunities.

And we're pretty proud of that.

The 2026 Henley Opportunity Index is a global report that measures how likely students are to succeed professionally after graduating in a particular country. It looks at things like earning potential, career pathways and quality of life.

Australia scored 80/100, sitting just behind Switzerland and Singapore.

Queensland is a big part of that story.

So when you choose to study in Queensland, you're choosing a state in a country that the world already recognises as one of the best places to build your future.

Pretty good reason to make the move 💙

Water safety is something we take seriously here in Queensland 🌊 Some of our international students recently completed their water skills assessment and we couldn't be prouder.

Before students can take part in any water activities here in Queensland, they complete a water skills assessment — a simple swim in the pool where they show us they can float, tread water and swim safely to the edge.

It's one of the ways we make sure your child can enjoy everything Queensland's beaches and pools have to offer, safely and confidently.

And if the backdrop for this one is anything to go by, we think they're going to have a great time 💙

Tonight, Queensland is buzzing 🏉💥

It’s State of Origin — one of Australia’s biggest sporting events, where Queensland (Maroons) take on New South Wales (Blues) in a three-game rugby league series full of pride, passion and a little friendly rivalry.

We asked around the EQI office… Maroons or Blues? 👀

At Queensland Government schools, sport is part of everyday life. Students from around the world come here to build their skills, be part of a team, and experience the energy of game day.
Thinking about studying and playing sport in Australia? Consider this your sign.

Go the Maroons! ♥️

“The Queensland Academies are all selective entry, which means the students there really want to be there — this creates a culture of learning and excellence that you wouldn’t usually see.” — Jeff Cao, former Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology (QASMT) teacher

Former QASMT teacher Jeff Cao has unique insight into the three Queensland Academies. At each selective-entry school, students benefit from:

🏫 state-of-the-art facilities
🎓 university partnerships
🌍 the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum — an internationally recognised program that opens doors to university and future career options in Australia and beyond.
