We use Facebook to complement information already on our council website. Sometimes this promotes discussion among our followers, however as an "open comment" page we moderate comments that are rude or offensive. It may not be cool to "like" a council's library page, but if you are a Facebook user and you like the mobile age of

communication, we invite you to participate in this page. We do not encourage notice board type content on council's library page, and will remove notices that are promoting events or causes. There are other pages on Facebook that are dedicated to spreading your word about your business and events.

Closure Update.

As we prepare for our move into the new library, the library will be tentatively closing from late May while we relocate collections and services.

We’ll continue to share updates and confirm dates as plans progress. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support during this busy transition period.

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Meet Grant! 🌟

Meet Grant, one of our Library Assistants here! Grant has been part of the team since September 2024 and is a valued member of our library team.

Grant’s favourite library service is the Home Library Service (HLS), as it plays such an important role in making the library accessible to everyone—especially those who aren’t able to visit in person. 📚

He’s looking forward to the move to the new library, with its modern facilities and updated workstations, creating an even better space for both staff and visitors.

Fun fact: He likes turtles! 🐢

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Meet Jess! 🌟

Meet Jess, one of our friendly Library Assistants here at Broken Hill City Library! She’s been part of the team for almost two years and is a valued member of our library community.

Jess’s favourite part of the library is helping people discover their next great read. She loves recommending books, assisting patrons to find something new, and being involved in kids’ programs.

She’s especially excited about the move to the new library, with more space to host events and programs—and of course, room for even more books to enjoy!

Fun fact: Jess is a huge reader and gets through an impressive 80–100 books every year!

Be sure to say hello to Jess next time you’re at the library!
