This August the School went pink, and our community rallied behind the cause with extraordinary generosity, raising over $10,000 for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) 🩷 Thanks for your support, your donations, the pink socks, swim caps, arm bands and ribbons. Thanks for the baking, the cheering, the community.

Our P&F Runners and Walkers Group made their own remarkable contribution, covering 56km across August, one kilometre for each of the 56 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer every single day and raising over $3,600.

Every dollar stands with the Australians affected by breast cancer and brings the goal of Zero Deaths that little bit closer.

CGS’s Concert Band travelled to Melbourne last week to compete in the Intermediate Concert Band section of the Victorian Schools Music Festival and came home with a Platinum award.

Across two days, our students rehearsed at Wesley College and Carey Baptist Grammar School, performed for expert adjudicators, and learned alongside some of the country's finest school music programs. The Platinum result is wonderful recognition of their talent but it was the maturity, musicality and care they showed for one another that made us most proud.

Our thanks to conductors Dr Anita Collins and Mr Christopher Retter for leading the Band. Congratulations to all involved. You represented Canberra Grammar School with distinction.

What’s red, white and read all over? Our Year 5 cohort!

Last week, a sea of Wallies could be spotted across the campus as Year 5 came together to bring the pages of ‘Where’s Wally?’ to life for the Book Week Parade.

The celebrations spread from our youngest students right through to our oldest, and didn’t stop there, with our educators going all out to bring much-loved characters of their own to life.

Throughout the week, students explored the CBCA shortlisted books, shared their perspectives as shadow judges and took part in activities celebrating literature and the joy of reading.

Reading plays an important role in learning at Canberra Grammar School, encouraging students to encounter new ideas and develop their curiosity about the world around them.

Canberra Grammar School's Early Learning programme welcomes children from three years old. Not as a childcare option, but as the first step in a genuine educational journey.

As an IB Continuum School, that journey begins in Early Learning through the Primary Years Programme, establishing strong foundations for how children learn, think and engage with the world around them. As they grow, their education continues to build on those foundations throughout their years at the School.

Canberra Grammar School is delighted to welcome acclaimed Australian author Tamara Moss for the launch of her first solo YA novel, ‘Five Voices’.

Join us on Monday 31 August, 4:30pm – 5:30pm in the Senior School Library, where Tamara will be in conversation with local author Jack Heath about her gripping new thriller. Five Voices follows five friends, four suspects and a web of secrets where nothing is quite as straightforward as it seems.

Rugby at Canberra Grammar School has a long reach. From a first tackle in the junior years to the alumni who have gone on to play professionally on the world stage. The lessons learned from the game tend to travel further still, well beyond the field.

So it was a real pleasure to open our doors today and share our rugby offering with future families as part of our Indigenous Scholars Programme, joined by three guests who know the game well: Matthew Sonter, Craig Leseberg and Andy Friend.

A good day for rugby and for the families who might one day call this place home.

Canberra Grammar School welcomes Nathan Boller as Head of Primary School this week.

Nathan brings a wealth of experience to the role. Most recently, he served as Headmaster of Thomas's London Day School, Clapham, and prior to that as Deputy Head of Grimwade House at Melbourne Grammar. Earlier in his career he taught in both London and Canberra, including working with children with complex needs in the ACT's youth justice and mental health systems.

Raised in Cooma, Nathan knows this part of the world well, and he arrives with a genuine understanding of the CGS ethos. He is passionate about sport, music, the arts, and outdoor pursuits, alongside a clear commitment to academic standards and character development.
