💪 Training Today, Ready Tomorrow
This week, NSW SES Coffs Harbour volunteers came together for a hands-on Storm and Water Damage Professional Development Day, sharpening the skills that help keep our community safe when severe weather strikes.
From roof tarping and temporary repairs to chainsaw operations, fallen tree management, and storm damage assessment, volunteers spent the day building confidence, refining techniques, and working as a team in realistic scenarios.
When storms hit, our members are often out in challenging conditions — strong winds, heavy rain, and damaged infrastructure — helping residents protect their homes and recover from the impacts of severe weather. Training like this ensures we can respond safely, efficiently, and effectively when the community needs us most.
As we move closer to another storm season, now is a great time for everyone to prepare their homes and families.
✅ Clean gutters and downpipes.✅ Secure outdoor furniture and loose items.✅ Trim overhanging branches around your property.✅ Check your emergency kit and torch batteries.✅ Discuss a family emergency plan.✅ Stay informed by monitoring weather warnings and alerts.
⚠️ Preparation is your best defence against severe weather. Taking a few simple steps now can make a significant difference when storms arrive.
A big thank Coffs Harbour Showground for your location for training. 🧡
