Hector the Road Safety Cat showed us his moves last week when he performed with NT singing sensation Yung Milla.

The pair rocked out at the Barkly Careers and Youth Forum and inspired local youth to make the most of life’s opportunities as they move into the workforce. Hector also provided some important road safety tips.

Following Yung’s performance, guests heard from local professionals, who represented career opportunities and inspired students in taking their important next career moves.

Nightcliff Jetty upgrade works are continuing. Following further inspections, additional structural repairs are required to ensure the jetty's long-term safety and integrity. As a result, Nightcliff Jetty will remain closed to the public while works continue and is expected to reopen in November 2026.

Temporary public access arrangements will not be available during the Term 3 school holiday period, allowing works to continue uninterrupted and supporting the timely completion of the upgrades. Every effort is being made to reopen the jetty as soon as it is safe to do so.

The car park and surrounding foreshore areas remain open.
Please be aware that traffic management measures may be in place from time to time and please follow signage.

🙏We thank the community for its patience and understanding while these important works are carried out and look forward to the reopening of the jetty as soon as possible.

A major milestone in Darwin’s water security has been achieved with construction completion of the Manton Dam Return to Service project, marking one of the most significant water infrastructure developments in the Northern Territory in the past 50 years.

Delivered on time and under budget this project included the modernisation of the existing reservoir intake tower, construction of the new Strauss Water Treatment Plant, a new pump station and 22 kilometres of pipeline to strengthen Darwin's water security by providing an additional 7,300 ML of water each year.

This project is part of the Darwin Region Water Supply Infrastructure Program, an innovative and sustainable water supply solution led by the Department of Logistics and Infrastructure. The Program is being delivered in stages to supply safe drinking water for Territorians, as well as enabling economic growth and job creation.

Stage 1 is jointly funded by the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water through the Fund and the Northern Territory Government and is delivered in partnership with Power and Water.
