Located 400kms north of Perth via air and 410kms via road, Geraldton has a thriving population of over 40,000 people. Named as one of Australia’s regional capitals, Greater Geraldton also incorporates the town of Mullewa which lies 98kms north east of the city and the Greenough settlement located 24kms south of Geraldton on the Brand Highway. The City boasts a prosperous economy and a number of industries including mining, fishing, manufacturing, construction, retail and tourism. As one of Western Australia’s top places to live, work, study or invest, Geraldton is the capital of the Mid West region. The municipality includes the suburbs of Geraldton, Mount Tarcoola, Wandina, Waggrakine, Spalding, Rangeway, Wonthella, Beachlands, Beresford, Tarcoola Beach, Bluff Point, Utakarra, Sunset Beach, Wooree, Strathalbyn, Drummond Cove, Mahomets Flats, Moresby, Deepdale, Karloo, Glenfield, Mullewa, Rudds Gully, West End, Cape Burney, Greenough, Moonyoonooka, Walkaway, Minnenooka, Tardun, and Webberton. Greater Geraldton is also home to a number of private and public schools from K-12 as well as the opportunity for higher education studies with the Geraldton University Centre, Durack Institute of Technology and the Batavia Coast Marine Institute. Geraldton’s coastline is a huge tourist attraction and it has a beautiful Foreshore to match. Other attractions include the iconic Point Moore lighthouse, the HMAS Sydney Memorial and the Houtman Abrolhos Islands which are located 60km off the coast of Geraldton. The City has a rich long-spanning heritage with much of that still preserved throughout the City.

EXHIBITION DATES: 26 September - 22 November 2026

Curated by Wiggy Mitsuda, 𝘽𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 showcases Midwest artists exploring community, Country, and future-oriented themes through diverse media, as detailed on Instagram. The exhibition is part of the Regional Arts Triennial: Radical Futures.

The 𝙈𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙀𝙭𝙝𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 is open to all 𝙈𝙞𝙙 𝙒𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙈𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨, highlighting the thriving arts community in the Mid West Region. This open-themed exhibition involves works from a variety of mediums, with artists at all stages of their careers.

This project has been made possible through the support of the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, and Lotterywest.

🥊 Geraldton PCYC boxer Eric Kyanga was recently crowned Boxing WA’s 2026 85kg Golden Gloves Champion!

After three hard fought rounds Eric was awarded the unanimous decision over a tough opponent who had been victorious in their two previous match ups.

A major intersection upgrade designed to improve road safety is now complete and has been officially opened at the junction of Flores Road, Eastward Road and Alexander Street in Utakarra.

Jerry Clune - City of Greater Geraldton Mayor said the project was a significant investment in community safety and would help prevent accidents at the intersection.

UPDATE at 8.20am.
Police are currently responding to reports of a serious incident involving people known to each other in Moonyoonooka.

A man has been conveyed to hospital with a gunshot wound. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Significant police resources have been deployed to the areas of Moonyoonooka and Utakarra, and inquiries are ongoing.

While this incident involves a fi***rm, there is no information to suggest an ongoing threat to the wider community. Members of the public are not being asked to be alarmed, however they should remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.

Members of the public are asked to stay away from the area while police continue to respond to the incident.

🥇🤩 Local Legend 🤩🥇

🥪 Over the past six years, Jennifer Pritchard has coordinated 30 – 40 volunteers to come together 12 times a year, making more than 1,500 cheese sandwiches per session as a community-led regional model of the national Eat Up program.

🎈 Passionate about supporting the wellbeing of children in our community, Jennifer started the initiative in response to a high number of school children experiencing food insecurity. Since then, she has built community partnerships to create a reliable, sustainable program supporting 13 local schools, all while making volunteer sessions fun, welcoming and productive.

Congratulations on initiating and leading a successful program that impacted a high number of Midwest children. You are a Local Legend 🏆
