Anti-Discrimination NSW

Anti-Discrimination NSW If you’ve been discriminated against, sexually harassed or vilified in NSW, we can help. Our services are free.

We are the NSW state government body that administers the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. We strive to eliminate discrimination in New South Wales by answering enquiries, reconciling complaints, raising awareness about discrimination and its impacts, managing applications for exemptions from the Act, and advising the government about discrimination issues. If you have experienced discrimination in NSW, you can lodge a complaint with us.

Today is Mabo Day.

It marks the 1992 High Court decision led by Eddie Koiki Mabo, which overturned the idea of terra nullius and recognised the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to their land.

At Anti-Discrimination NSW, we’re committed to promoting fairness and equality for everyone. We recognise that meaningful progress involves listening, learning and continuing to work towards a more inclusive society.

Pride Month is a time to recognise, celebrate and support LGBTQIA+ communities.

In NSW, everyone - regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity - should feel welcome, valued, and able to live authentically and with pride.

Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are.

While Pride is a celebration, it’s also a reminder that discrimination still exists.

Anti-Discrimination NSW can help if you’ve experienced:

It’s National Reconciliation Week.

This year’s theme, ‘All In’, is a powerful reminder that reconciliation takes all of us – not just this week, but every day. It calls on individuals, communities and organisations to take meaningful action and help build a more just and inclusive society.

At Anti-Discrimination NSW, we’re committed to eliminating discrimination and promoting equality and equal treatment for everyone across NSW. We recognise that reconciliation is strengthened through respect, understanding and strong relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community.

Today, we acknowledge National Sorry Day – a day to recognise the ongoing impact of the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, known as the Stolen Generations.

At Anti-Discrimination NSW, we reflect on the truth of our shared history and honour the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations survivors, their families and communities.

Saying “sorry” is not just about the past – it is about listening, learning and committing to a future built on respect, understanding and justice.
