Algal Bloom Community Forum – Port Lincoln

The State Government is hosting a free Algal Bloom Community Forum on the Eyre Peninsula to provide residents and businesses with the latest information on local algal bloom conditions, testing results, and response and recovery efforts.

⏰ 6.00pm – 7.30pm

Attendees will hear from government leaders and experts, including Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, the Hon. Clare Scriven MLC, along with representatives from PIRSA and SA Health.

While the vast majority of South Australia’s coastline has recorded zero or low levels of Karenia over the past three months, recent testing has detected elevated levels at 6 of the 32 onshore testing sites on the Eyre Peninsula.

Community members will have the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback directly with government experts.

The forum is free to attend, but registration is required.

Today marks the beginning of 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (27 May – 3 June) — a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to reflect on how we can all be “All In” for reconciliation.

𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐭 is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.
It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches the system is being tested in communities across Australia.
It is being tested in 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐧 at 𝟏𝟏:𝟎𝟎 𝐚𝐦 on 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔. Your mobile device such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches may recieve a test alert.
It will vibrate and include a loud siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds.
You don't need to do anything but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert to keep yourself and ohters safe.
