⚓️ The St George Sailing Club invested $15 million upgrading their venue to create a popular visitor destination.⛵️

When the Club pointed out to me the tired and somewhat neglected garden beds in the adjoining Council Carpark, I was more than happy to help change this.

🌳After some recently completed works, I’m pleased to see the whole area and landscaping looking so much better. 🌱

Commuters are stuck in traffic while the Government stays silent.

🔴 No opening date.
🔴 No clear plan.
🔴 No real answers for Southern Sydney families trying to get home sooner.

The M6 was meant to reduce congestion - instead, locals are being left frustrated and fed up.

📣People Power Wins! This evening, Bayside Council has reversed its decision to demolish Dolls Point Wharf.

🙏Many thanks to everyone who fought hard to Save Dolls Point Wharf. Now we can start the process to restore the wharf and return it to the community. I’ll keep you posted.🎣

As Sydney’s Pontian community commemorated the Greek Genocide this morning, I had the privilege to represent Bayside Council on behalf of the Mayor.

I attended a special wreath-laying ceremony organised by the Hellenic Pontian Genocide Commemorative Committee including the Greek Pontian Society of Wollongong “Diogenes”, Panagia Soumela Sydney and Pontoxeniteas NSW .

The Pontian People remain strong and their Culture continues despite the atrocities committed against their ancestors.

May their memories be eternal. Αιωνία η μνήμη.

Tonight, I attended the Windgap Gala Ball which raises vital funds and community awareness for the Windgap Foundation, providing crucial programs, housing and supported employment for the empowerment of adults with disabilities.

A wonderful night dedicated to support individuals and their quality of life.

✅ I’ll be voting to Save Dolls Point Wharf from demolition.

✅ I’ll be voting Against Excessive Overdevelopment, the 20 Storey High-rise Towers and the Brighton Le Sands and Bay Street Masterplan.

🚨 UPDATE: BRIGHTON LE SANDS MASTERPLAN PLANNING PROPOSAL– HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE 10–20 STOREY TOWERS! 🚨

You can still let Bayside Councillors know what you really think about the proposed Brighton Le Sands and Bay Street Masterplan at the next full Council meeting on Wednesday 27 May 2026.

What has been resolved so far by Council’s City Planning & Environment Committee (Item CPE26.010):

❌ Council notes the Phase 1 Transport and Economic Feasibility Studies.
❌ Council endorses proceeding with the comprehensive masterplan for Brighton Le Sands and Bay Street.
❌ Next steps: Release a Request for Tender for design work.

Many thanks to my colleagues Councillor Liz Barlow and Councillor Peter Strong who at least tried to stop this at the Committee meeting even though they were unsuccessful.

Now only people power can push back!

This is the moment to act. The purple section (higher viability / priority area – see Figure 3) is being fast-tracked. It is bounded by President Avenue (south), Sellwood Street & Brighton Parade (north), including the Town Centre and Bay Street corridor. The yellow section is on hold for now.

Council’s own feasibility study confirms building heights of 10 storeys and up to 20 storeys are needed for “commercially viable” development.

When I ran for Council in late 2024, I specifically pledged to “Fight Against Labor’s Overdevelopment as Labor wants to increase overdevelopment and more density.”

Back then, no one knew exactly what they had in mind. Now, two years later this current planning proposal for Brighton Le Sands isn’t just excessive. It’s overdevelopment on steroids and I will keep my promise to fight it.

Once this masterplan proposal gains momentum and the area is rezoned, faceless unelected planning panels will be able to approve high-rise towers, street by street, pitting neighbour against neighbour.

🚨We now have one last chance to Save Dolls Point Wharf from demolition!🚨

Councillor Peter Strong and I have lodged a rescission motion to overturn the 22 April Council decision to demolish the wharf.

At that previous meeting, the following seven Councillors actually voted AGAINST demolition:

Cr Vicki Poulos, Cr Peter Strong, Cr Michael Nagi, Cr Ron Bezic, Cr Jerome Boutelet, Cr Liz Barlow and Cr Fiona Douskou.

All we need is 1️⃣ more Councillor to flip their vote and the wharf is saved.

It will be back on the agenda for the next full Council meeting on Wednesday 27 May 2026, where we will be fighting hard to finally bring this wharf back to life.

Only people power can SAVE it now, so how can you help?

The piers and headstocks are structurally sound. Full restoration would cost $650,000 and deliver a safe, usable community asset with a 40–50 year design life, perfect for passive recreation, fishing and sightseeing.

This issue is winnable, but only if the community shows up louder than ever. The seven who voted to save it on 22 April proved it’s possible. Now let’s give the rest of Council a reason to join them on 27 May. 🛟
