On 28 July, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka, co-organized a special briefing session with Rystad Energy titled "𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁: 𝗔𝗻 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮."

🎉 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟯 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: 𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗔 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹, 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗶

On 5 July, LISA Hospital in Rajarampur Village, Fulbari, Dinajpur, marked three remarkable years of transforming maternal healthcare in one of Bangladesh's most underserved regions.

Ambassador 🇳🇴 H.E. Håkon Arald Gulbrandsen joined as Chief Guest, alongside A.Z.M. Rezwanul Haque, MP for Fulbari-Parbotipur, Dinajpur-5, local government officials, delegates, and members of the Fulbari community.

Since beginning operations in May 2023 — through the vision of Norwegian impact investor Carsten Hjelde and the local Chowdhury family, led by Abdus Samad Chowdhury — LISA Hospital has served a community of approximately 204,000 people. As a result, the numbers tell a powerful story:

👶 2,312+ safe births facilitated
🏥 35,000+ people reached through 30 medical campaigns
💙 2,255+ free treatments for those unable to pay
🚑 540+ emergency patients transported

By introducing a non-profit, pay-what-it-costs pricing model — bringing the cost of a caesarean section down from 3,000–4,000 NOK to roughly 900 NOK — LISA Hospital has reset the standard for what healthcare should cost across the entire sub-district, encouraging competing providers to follow suit. LISA's outreach is changing outcomes: safe normal births are rising, one informed mother at a time.

🗞️ On 24 July 2026, an in-depth panel discussion on '𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺, 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆' took place during the Bengal Delta Conference 2026 in Dhaka 🇧🇩.

🎙️The panel discussion on media freedom, which was sponsored by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka was part of the two-day international conference organized by Dacca Institute of Research and Analytics - daira.

🇳🇴 In his opening remarks, Chargé d'affaires Fredrik Karlsrud briefly recounted Norwegian experiences with media freedom. The following panel discussion touched upon a range of issues affecting media freedom, including self-censorship, funding, and the importance of independent journalism.

🎤 Counterpoint editor Zafar Sobhan moderated the session in which senior journalists from Nepal, India and Bangladesh also participated.

🌱 The Nordic Green & Health Team, a joint workgroup of colleagues from the Embassies of Denmark, Norway and Sweden in Dhaka, recently organized an internal competition titled Healthy Lifestyle Challenge to celebrate healthy, sustainable lifestyles and inspire positive change in the workplace.

🥗🏓 From stretching and movement breaks to Zumba dance sessions, indoor games, healthy eating, reducing single-use plastics and adding more greenery, every small action helps create a healthier workplace.

15 years have passed since the terrorist attack on the Government Quarter and Utøya in Oslo. On 22 July 2011, 77 people were killed by a far-right extremist terrorist. A great many were injured and even more had their lives changed forever. Most of them were young.

🕊️ On 19 July 2026, National Memorial Site for 22 July was officially inaugurated at the Government Quarter. The memorial is intended to serve as a place for reflection, remembrance and honouring the victims of the 22 July attacks.

🌱 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵’𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲

🤝 On 7 July 2026, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka signed a grant agreement with ADAMS Foundation to strengthen Bangladesh’s preparedness and capacity on Loss and Damage (L&D).

🇳🇴🤝🇧🇩 In 2023, Norway pledged NOK 270 million to the newly established Loss and Damage Fund at COP28, underscoring its support for developing countries most affected by climate change. This partnership reflects Norway’s broader commitment to supporting Bangladesh in becoming more climate resilient and compliments other ongoing climate projects.

🌎 With technical leadership from International Centre for Climate Change & Development (ICCCAD), a globally recognized institution on climate change adaptation and Loss and Damage, the partnership aims to promote locally led, gender-responsive, and youth-inclusive approaches while strengthening Bangladesh’s institutional readiness to address climate impacts.

The initiative will bring together government officials and key stakeholders from the most climate impacted sectors through workshops and policy dialogue - on 21 and 22 July 2026 - to enhance understanding of the evolving global Loss and Damage architecture, including financing mechanisms and access modalities. Mr. Mirza Shawkat Ali, Director (Climate Change and International Conventions), Department of Environment will deliver a plenary presentation. Dr. Fahmida Khanom, Acting Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and Dr. Md. Saimum Parvez, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, will be the Chief Guests on the two days.

🎂👑 𝓗𝓪𝓹𝓹𝔂 𝓫𝓲𝓻𝓽𝓱𝓭𝓪𝔂 𝓽𝓸 𝓗𝓲𝓼 𝓡𝓸𝔂𝓪𝓵 𝓗𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓷𝓮𝓼𝓼 𝓒𝓻𝓸𝔀𝓷 𝓟𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓬𝓮 𝓗𝓪𝓪𝓴𝓸𝓷!

🇳🇴 A dedicated advocate for environment and sustainability, youth, and social international affairs, the Crown Prince plays a key role in promoting Norwegian values and interests. He focuses on business and value creation, with particular attention to entrepreneurs and the green transition.

🤝 Every year he also leads delegations and travels abroad on behalf of the Norwegian government, strengthening bilateral relations within trade and industry, science and culture, as well as promoting Norwegian interests.
