Our Trades Careers Culinary cohort wrapped up their program with a stunning finale dinner in the beautiful Opera Room at Teatro Restaurant—an unforgettable evening of creativity, skill, and flavour.

Under the mentorship of Chef Matthew Batey, COO & Director of Culinary for Teatro Group, students from CBE and CCSD schools showcased the impressive techniques and confidence they’ve built throughout the program.

We couldn’t be prouder of these young chefs. Their dedication, passion, and artistry were on full display. Congratulations to every participant on an exceptional achievement.

Our Books for Kids program enhances TEPF’s impact on literacy levels in the community by donating books to select schools across Alberta. This empowers young learners by giving them the essential tools they need to uplift their literacy skills and unlock the boundless joy of reading.

In 2025, our generous funding partners helped us donate 6,379 books to deserving youngsters in Alberta, along with literacy collector cards that reward students for reading minutes and teacher toolkits that target core subject areas, providing comprehensive learning support.

It was an honour for The Educational Partnership Foundation to meet Prime Minister Mark Carney at UA Local 496-Pipe Trades Union, where two of our eleven Calgary high school cohorts in the Trades Careers program are currently training. We appreciated the opportunity to highlight how expanded skilled trades programming is transforming pathways for students across Alberta, and to introduce one of our dedicated students to Mr. Carney.

We appreciate the meaningful dialogue with Canada’s federal government and look forward to continued collaboration that strengthens education, empowers youth, and builds the skilled workforce our future economy depends on.

We recently had the absolute pleasure of hosting a booth at Boilermakers Lodge 146's Weld Rodeo in Calgary. During “Welder of Oz” students from six different high schools teamed up in groups of four to build Wizard of Oz-inspired metal sculptures, and the results were nothing short of extraordinary. From a soaring flying monkey to a full Tin Man to a twisting tornado, their imagination and skill were on full display.

We loved connecting with so many enthusiastic young welders, and their energy was contagious. A couple of students were even interviewed by a local TV station and hearing them talk about their passion for welding was a highlight for all of us.

Events like this remind us why supporting the next generation of skilled trades talent matters so much.
