We ended May recognizing the virtue empathy, celebrating wonderful talents, and dressing up from our favourite decades! This month we also had 5/6 track and field, many exciting field trips and sunshine. As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we look forward to one more month of making great memories and ending the school year on a high note!

Last week, Westmount Chief & Council/Tribal Support Committee group, along with the grade 4 classes went on a field trip to Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park for the Lead by Example Cultural sharing event. We got to hike down to the tipi camp and eat in a tipi, we saw where the Treaty 7 Agreement was signed by the Bow River. We watched powwow dancing and listened to drumming and singing.

It was an amazing 5/6 track and field day today at Westmount! Congratulations to all of our athletes who are moving forward to counties. Go Huskies! ❤️💚💙

🌾 Grade 2 Prairie Adventure! 🚌✨
On Friday, our amazing Grade 2s headed out for their annual prairie adventure, and what a day it was! We explored some incredible local spots, making stops at:
🚜 Mrs. Herriot’s Family Farm
⛰️ Horseshoe Canyon
🌾 A beautiful prairie pasture
🤠 The Rockyford Rodeo grounds
A truly special highlight of our trip was having Ms. Big Snake join us. She helped us connect deeply to the land by leading a meaningful Land Acknowledgement and made a traditional offering of to***co on the prairies. 🌿❤️
It was a day full of learning, connection, and community!

As part of our Hatchet unit, our Gr. 5 students are learning how to use compasses and navigate like true wilderness explorers! Inspired by Brian’s survival journey, students are practicing outdoor skills while building confidence and teamwork along the way. 🌲🧭

This week our Gr. 3’s had a great time visiting to learn about plants from Mr. Hintz! We even got to make our own seed bombs which we learned are used protects seeds from harsh weather and predators. Once scattered, they naturally dissolve with rain, allowing plants to germinate and flourish.
