Earlier today, Hartlepool CLP submitted our motion on council tax reform to Labour Party Conference.

For years, we have been at the very forefront of the campaign to reform council tax because we refuse to accept a system that disproportionately affects hardworking families here in Hartlepool.

Jonathan Brash MP and our local councillors both past and present have been the public face of this fight. Hartlepool CLP backs them unanimously.

🏡 TWO YEARS OF DELIVERING FOR HARTLEPOOL | PART 13

Over the next few days, I’m looking back at some of the biggest milestones we’ve achieved together since I was elected as your MP.

Today’s story is about something that matters to every community: having pride in the place we call home.

🌳 PUTTING PRIDE BACK INTO OUR NEIGHBOURHOODS

On 3 November 2025, we announced a £1.5 million Pride in Place Impact Fund, bringing immediate investment into our communities ahead of the wider £20 million Pride in Place funding secured for Hartlepool over the next decade.

The message was simple: every part of Hartlepool deserves investment, attention and the chance to thrive.

Working with local communities, we’ve used this funding to deliver practical improvements that people can see and feel.

🧹 Neighbourhood clean-ups to tackle issues and make our streets look their best.
🤝 Community grants supporting local groups, charities and organisations doing brilliant work.
🏪 Business grants helping local businesses invest and grow.
🛝 Investment in playgrounds creating better spaces for children and families.

Big regeneration projects matter, but so do the everyday things that make people proud of where they live.

This is about listening to residents, supporting local people and making sure communities have the tools they need to improve their own neighbourhoods.

Pride in Place is about one simple belief: Hartlepool deserves the very best and together we are building it.

Thank you to all the community groups, volunteers, businesses and residents who are helping make this happen.

Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing another milestone as we continue looking back at two years of delivery for Hartlepool.
