Join us to celebrate Armed Forces Day!

📆 Sunday 28 June, 11am – 4pm
📍 Broad Street & Forbury Gardens, Reading

Enjoy a full day of live music and performances, including the Reading Scottish Pipe Band, The Mulberry Earls and Two Nightingales duos bringing timeless style to Broad Street, and the Sandhurst Silver Band performing in the Forbury Gardens.

You’ll also have the chance to meet local Armed Forces representatives and explore information stalls and activities from Armed Forces charities.

Also, there will be an obstacle course and free face painting in the Forbury Gardens all day, so bring your family along!

Join us for the big Water Fest Celebration Weekend!

📆 Saturday 27 June - Sunday 28 June

🌊 Reading Water Fest will be taking place on Saturday 27 June in the Forbury Gardens, Reading Abbey Ruins, Chestnut Walk and Riverside Walk between 11am and 5pm in partnership with Kennet and Avon Canal Trust - Reading Branch. Join us for live entertainment, children’s activities, refreshments, water activities, sustainable fashion workshops, charity stalls, and so much more! 🇬🇧 The weekend will continue with entertainment taking place in the Forbury Bandstand and on Broad Street in celebration of Armed Forces Day on Sunday 28 June between 11am and 4pm. The day will feature performances by the Reading Scottish Pipe Band, local Armed Forces Representatives and information stalls and activities from Armed Forces charities.

Get ready for a hilarious and heartwarming journey to the Top of the Wold with Mikron Theatre Company!

Hop aboard the most charmingly quirky mobile library you’ll ever encounter and dive into chapters that teem with the lives of then and now. This brand-new play, bursting with original songs, invites you to join the East Riding Mobile Library in a celebration of community, culture, caravans, and peas.

Via Bempton, Bridlington, Hornsea and Howden, we explore a region barely noticed by the nation it feeds, eroded by the pounding North Sea. Can a mobile library – with its complex web of rural stops (and somewhat erratic engine) – pull together the Riding’s finest yarns?

From the rolling Wolds to the wild North Sea, discover a place where connection to the land is ingrained, culture is as organic as its produce, and the sea reminds us that we stand on the cliff-edge of a much bigger story.

This laugh-out-loud quest through a patchwork of culture and community celebrates the forgotten, the resilient, and the wonderfully eccentric.

If the story of a county is written in a book, the library is the spine that shows you where to look.

No tickets required, a pay-what-you-feel collection will be taken after the show.

Please bring your own refreshments and seating for this performance.

Reading Rep Theatre has announced the launch of its brand-new 2026/27 season! 🎭
The upcoming programme reflects the theatre’s ambition to create bold, inspiring work in the heart of Reading, bringing together an exciting mix of new productions, returning favourites, and world premieres designed to captivate audiences throughout the year.

Alongside the season, Reading Rep will continue its ENGAGE programme, working with young people and communities across Reading to ensure more people can access, experience, and participate in the arts.

Central Library has opened its doors to Reading residents at the Civic Centre today! 📖
Pop into the children’s section, where you’ll find a special bookmark project display by Jelly 🔖

These bookmarks were created by children at this year's Reading Children's Festival and showcase some of their all-time favourite books.
Each bookmark shares their favourite book, why they loved it, and features artwork inspired by the story.

Come along, explore the new library, browse the bookmarks, and discover a book that could become your new favourite too!

The Reading Amateur Regatta (RAR), one of the UK’s oldest and most prestigious rowing events. Not really the kind of thing we cover here...

But while the rowing takes place across the river, this year the Caversham side once again springs to life! In Caversham Court Gardens, Angel Bar & Supper Club - Caversham and Eftihia Candles are teaming up to to bring a vibrant craft market, garden games, delicious food and drink and music!

Reading Water Fest 2026 is just around the corner, and the Events Team is still on the lookout for proactive volunteers to help them ensure everyone has a great time.

As a volunteer steward, you’ll support the Events Team by:
🎪 Helping with set-up and clean-up
🎨 Assisting with workshops and activities
👋 Welcoming and guiding visitors

No experience needed — just a positive attitude, good communication skills and a team spirit!
