Good Evening everyone.

The planning application and associated documents for the proposed development of 229 new homes on land east of Golborne Road, Winwick, have been published today on Warrington Borough Council’s planning portal.

There is a significant amount of information and supporting documentation accompanying the application.

Winwick Parish Council will be spending the next few days reviewing the application and all of the documents submitted.

We will provide a further update for residents as soon as we have had the opportunity to properly consider the proposals.

In the meantime, we would encourage residents to take a look at the application and supporting documents for themselves and familiarise themselves with what is being proposed.

The current deadline for submitting representations is 26th October and our next parish council meeting is planning for 27th October.

We will look to host an additional planning meeting specifically on this matter at Winwick Community Centre prior to that.

Peel Hall – upcoming works

𝐀 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬-𝐮𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦.

From Monday 28 September, Vistry will begin works to connect sewers from the new Peel Hall development into Ballater Drive.

The works are expected to last around three weeks.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place, with sections reduced to one lane. Some residents may also temporarily lose access to their driveways, with alternative parking being provided where needed.

Good evening

After a lot of logging and emails, the PC have now been able to have the tree on the corner of the A49 and Hollins Lane cut back.
Now letting in more light and hopefully not being as slippery underfoot in the winter month.
A small win, but with WBC they all matter.

Winwick Parish Council has been made aware that leaflets will be distributed this week by Bellway regarding a proposed housing scheme on green belt land east of Golborne Road as a Phase 2 to the existing development. We want to ensure all residents have the facts about where this stands:

📌 Current Status: This is a developer-led preliminary consultation. A formal planning application has NOT yet been submitted to WBC. Therefore, there is nothing to officially object to at this stage.

🏡 The Proposal: The early plans expect to deliver around 220 new homes (including 45% affordable housing) with two new vehicle access points from Golborne Road.

🗣️ Have Your Say: Bellway is requesting preliminary comments from residents by Friday, 7 August 2026. The Parish Council is monitoring the situation closely and will be extending an official invitation for the developer to attend an upcoming council meeting to answer questions on behalf of the parish.

It was an honour and privilege to attend The Mayor Councillor Sagheer Zaman’s Civic service at St Elphin’s this morning along with Cllr Stuart Mann, representing Winwick Parish Council and the Residents of Winwick and Peel Hall.

Winwick Parish Council – Roadworks Update

Residents may notice temporary traffic signals on Myddleton Lane at the junction with Falcondale Road from 9 June until 6 July.

These works are being carried out by Cadent Gas as part of their programme to replace ageing gas pipes in the area. The works will be managed using multi-way temporary traffic signals, and motorists should expect some delays, particularly at busier times.

Please allow extra time for journeys where possible and take care when travelling through the works.

Winwick Parish Council would like to offer huge congratulations to everyone involved with the Winwick Litter Network following the presentation
of the King’s Award for Voluntary Service at Warrington Town Hall yesterday.

This is an incredible achievement and a fitting recognition of the countless hours volunteers give to helping keep Winwick and the wider Warrington area clean, tidy and welcoming for everyone.

The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award a voluntary group can receive and is often described as the MBE for volunteer groups. To be one of only two litter groups across the UK and Northern Ireland to receive the award in 2025 is something everyone connected with the network should be immensely proud of.

Special congratulations to George Melvin, Dave Taylor, Bob Towers, Parish Cllr Emma Lavender, Parish Cllr Wendy Rennison and all of the volunteers who represented Winwick at the ceremony, alongside volunteers from across Warrington including Croft Litter Network, Peel Hall Litter team and the Woody Wombles in Burtonwood.

Whether in the wind, rain or sunshine, the dedication shown by volunteers week after week makes a real difference to our communities and sets a fantastic example of community spirit in action.

Well done to everybody involved on this truly well-deserved recognition.
