Sub:- IMD-IMS World Meteorological Day celebration - 23 March 2023 (1600-1800 IST)

IMD and IMS will be jointly celebrating World Meteorological day on 23rd March, 2023 (1600-1800 IST).

On this occasion, the keynote talk will be delivered by Dr. Anshu Sharma, who is a Co-Founder of Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society (SEEDS), an Indian humanitarian organization that received the Government of India’s Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar 2021.

About the Talk:

India has become a world model on the accuracy and timeliness of extreme weather warnings. The next level of advancement of our early warning mechanism needs to make each vulnerable family to understand these warnings completely, be able to translate them into expected impact due to the impending hazards on their homes and lives, and be able to take appropriate action. The talk will showcase how AI based models along with local volunteer networks can make this happen.

Following publications will be released on this occasion

(i) Special Issue of MAUSAM (IWM-7) (Vol . 74. No. 2, 2023)
(ii) IMD Met. Monograph: Northeast Monsoon of South Asia
(iii) IMD Annual Report 2022
