On 3 June 2026, the Directorate of Government Internal Audit and Policy Coordination conducted a workshop for the Honourable Councillors and Management of the Otjiwarongo Municipality.

The workshop focused on the roles and responsibilities of Internal Audit, as well as management’s expectations of the Internal Audit function. It aimed to strengthen understanding of how Internal Audit supports good governance, effective risk management, and strong internal controls, while also clarifying management’s role in supporting and enabling Internal Audit services.

The Minister of Finance, Hon. Ericah Shafudah, this afternoon met with the Minister of International Relations and Trade, Hon. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, to discuss key financial and operational matters affecting the Ministry’s mandate.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the Ministry of International Relations and Trade to outline challenges related to revenue requirements, the operations of Namibia’s foreign missions, foreign exchange matters, and other issues impacting the effective delivery of diplomatic and trade services. Discussions also focused on areas where the Ministry of Finance can provide support to strengthen service delivery and ensure the continued advancement of Namibia’s foreign policy and international trade objectives.

Both Ministers reaffirmed the importance of close inter-ministerial collaboration in addressing challenges and identifying practical solutions that support national development priorities and enhance Namibia’s engagement with the international community.

The Minister of Finance, Hon. Ericah Shafudah, today met with the Secretariat and Board members of the Nutrition and Food Security Alliance of Namibia (NAFSAN) to discuss key nutrition and food security challenges facing the country.

Discussions focused on the recently reported increase in child stunting, which now affects 30% of children, as well as the growing prevalence of overweight and obesity and their contribution to non-communicable diseases. The meeting also highlighted the social and economic impact of malnutrition on public health, productivity and national development.

The Minister and NAFSAN exchanged views on a range of short and long-term interventions aimed at addressing all forms of malnutrition and strengthening food security outcomes for Namibians, particularly children and vulnerable communities.

Both parties reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between Government and civil society and committed to working together to advance sustainable solutions that support the health and well-being of all Namibians.

Today, the Minister of Finance and NamRA visited the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism to appreciate the critical role the ministry plays in generating revenue for the national treasury.

Discussions focused on revenue streams from wildlife and national parks management, including park entrance fees, conservancy fees, permits, filming fees, trophy hunting, which continue to support conservation efforts while contributing to the country’s economy.

The visit also highlighted the importance of sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship in strengthening Namibia’s revenue base.
