A cold start for the campers ahead of the The Heights of Winter challenge kicking off this morning.
You might see some of the participants enjoying the tracks in the Park today and maybe a well earned treat at the Orton Bradley Cafe afterwards. Participants in teams are given a set amount of time (6-hours or 12-hours) to visit as many checkpoints as possible. The goal is to accumulate the highest possible score by finding, correctly identifying, and tagging the locations of control points marked on the map. Good luck to all the 400 participants enjoying the Park.

The drizzle yesterday morning confused these sheep and made June officially wetter than May, three days into the month!

A big thank you to Bruce and Marg Farmer who are leaving the area soon. Farming in the Park till about 10 years ago they have given their time and expertise to the Park and wider community for many years over a huge range of projects as volunteers from fixing fences to building bridges and planting trees. Nga mihi.
