As part of the Department of Migrant Workersโ (DMW) continuing efforts to safeguard the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families, DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac personally led a welfare visit to the family of an OFW in Cabuyao, Laguna who was among the Filipino seafarers affected by the recent ship strike incident.
Joining Secretary Cacdac during the visit were DMW Sea-Based Services Director Augusto S. Sandiego, DMW Regional Office IV-A Regional Director Atty. April R. Casabuena, Chief Administrative Officer Apollo C. De Robles, Labor and Employment Officer I Soledad B. Reataza, and other DMW personnel, demonstrating the Departmentโs commitment to providing immediate assistance and support to affected OFWs and their families.
The welfare visit enabled the DMW team to personally check on the condition of the family, listen to their concerns, and assess their immediate needs following the incident. The family was also informed of the various assistance and support programs available through the Department as they cope with the situation.
Secretary Cacdac assured the family that the DMW remains closely coordinating with concerned agencies and stakeholders to ensure the welfare of the affected OFW and provide timely assistance to the family. He emphasized that the Department remains steadfast in extending support and protecting the interests of Filipino migrant workers, particularly during times of crisis.
The DMW continues to strengthen its welfare and assistance initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to stand with OFWs and their families through every challenge and circumstance.
