The DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR), as the lead agriculture and fisheries research for development (R4D) coordinating agency, is set to commemorate its 39 years of excellence in driving progress and delivering impact in the sector on August 6โ7, 2026 in Quezon City.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr., to be represented by Undersecretary Asis G. Perez, will grace the occasion. DA-BAR Director Cecilia N. Gascon shall present the directorโs report highlighting the bureauโs achievements from August 2025 to present.
In line with the bureauโs drive toward modern data-driven agriculture, it will officially unveil two major initiatives: the launching of the R4D Dashboard and the Knowledge Hub. The R4D Dashboard will serve as a centralized platform that provides real-time visualization and geographic mapping of R4D data. It enables users to monitor the status of projects for funding, research outputs, and key performance indicators across regions, supporting data-driven planning, analysis, and decision-making. Meanwhile, the Knowledge Hub serves as a platform engineered to manage the complete lifecycle of national agricultural research investments. Designed to replace fragmented paper trails and spreadsheets with a secure digital environment, the system will unify governance, project documentation and real time analytics to better serve the farmers and fishers. Both platforms were designed to enhance research data accessibility and technology transfer.
Another key highlight will be the presentation of ongoing R4D initiatives on ube. Further to this, two R4D technologies on ube will be presented in the DA-BAR Seminar Series. Topics include, Purple Yam Production: From Farm to Market Success to be presented by John Lerry Medina from DA-Central Luzon. Dr. Antonio Lalusin from the University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos will discuss the Harnessing Genetic Diversity and Genomics to Accelerate the Development of Superior Philippine Ube Varieties.
The bureau will also recognize officials and staff, both permanent and contract of service, for demonstrating outstanding performance and leadership in their respective roles. Alongside celebrating these top achievers, the event will also spotlight loyalty awardeesโextending deep appreciation for their years of commitment and continuous contributions to the organizationโs sustained growth. The second day, through the Employeesโ Day, shall foster camaraderie and team spirit among the bureauโs staff who fuel the bureau's ongoing mission.
As DA-BAR reaches its 39th milestone, the celebration reinforces its dedication to fostering innovation and delivering tangible outputs and outcomes to Filipino farmers, fisherfolk, and agricultural stakeholders.
The R4D community are invited to join the celebration virtually through a livestream via DA-BARโs official page.
