Here's a new possibility that should interest many: the "Long-Term Resident (LTR)" program.
On September 1st, Thailand unveiled a new Long-Term Resident visa (LTR), allowing certain foreigners to stay in Thailand for up to 10 years! A visa accompanied by a series of advantages - some fiscal - to persuade new foreign residents to stay or work in Thailand longer, thus contributing to domestic spending and investment while supporting economic growth, challenged by recent crises (health pandemic, war in Ukraine or climate crisis).
The LTR visa is aimed at 4 categories of foreigners
- Wealthy world citizens: people with a high economic status and holding at least 1 million USD of assets and investments in Thailand;
- Wealthy retirees: retirees aged 50 years and above who have an annual pension or a stable income;
- Professionals working from Thailand: remote workers working for well-established companies abroad;
- and finally highly skilled professionals: experts in targeted sectors working for companies, higher education institutions, research centers or specialized training institutes in Thailand or for Thai government agencies.
Spouses and children under the age of 20 are also eligible for the same visa (maximum of four dependents for each LTR visa holder).
Privileges will be offered to LTR visa holders, such as a 10-year renewable visa, expedited service at Thailand's international airports, one annual check at the Immigration Office (instead of 90 days), a multiple entry permit, permission to work in Thailand, a 17% personal tax rate for highly skilled professionals, and other benefits.

No need to go through a private office! The official office concerned - Expatriate Services Division One Stop Service Center for Visa and Work Permit (OSS) - even has a dedicated page: LTR Long-term Resident Visa (https://www.facebook.com/LTRVisaThailand)

This is a welcome easing for a country that has not been sparing - administratively speaking - its foreign nationals until now.
- Les citoyens du monde fortunés : personnes ayant un statut économique élevé et détenant au moins 1 million USD d'actifs et d'investissements en Thaïlande;
- Les retraités fortunés : retraités âgés de 50 ans et plus qui ont une pension annuelle ou un revenu stable;
- Les professionnels travaillant depuis la Thaïlande : travailleurs à distance travaillant pour des entreprises bien établies à l'étranger;
Le bureau officiel concerné - Expatriate Services Division One Stop Service Center for Visa and Work Permit (OSS) - dispose même de sa page Facebook dédiée : LTR Long-term Resident Visa (https://www.facebook.com/LTRVisaThailand)
