Danish solutions are the perfect match for the Bio-Circular-Green economy agenda in Thailand 🌾♻️
By utilising concrete Danish solutions such as advanced natural ingredients for food and feed as well as modern farm management systems, energy-efficient pumps and other new innovations, Thai food and agriculture companies can reduce costs, increase resource efficiency and decrease their environmental footprint. Thereby, both companies, consumers and the environment will benefit from the green transition.

Denmark has a new government! 🇩🇰
Mette Frederiksen has been reappointed as Prime Minister of Denmark and will lead the new government consisting of parties across the political centre. The new government consists of The Social Democratic Party, The Liberal Party, and The Moderates.
Together, the three parties make a majority government.
Majority governments are a rarity in Danish politics, where minority governments have been more common. A majority government has not been seen in Denmark since 1993/94.
The formation of the government is historic in several ways. The negotiations of the new government have been the longest in modern times and a government represented by parties from both sides of the parliament has not been seen since the late 1970s.

Global food rescue foundation saves millions of nutritious meals every year.
The Danish founder Bo Holmgren of Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) and members of his staff in Thailand visited the Royal Danish Embassy in Bangkok to discuss tangible cooperation on how to “walk the talk” in relation to food loss and waste.
SOS is a non-profit organisation that supports food security by collecting and distributing good quality surplus food using advanced operations. Their organisation in Thailand was launched in 2016, and they have since gone on to save and serve more than 25 million high quality meals to more than 1,000 communities across the country.

Danish heritage on display in Bangkok in December 💡🇩🇰🇹🇭
During this year’s “Awakening Bangkok" lighting festival a new location is making its debut.
The East Asiatic Building - a building with a significant Danish history – has been added to the list of venues for the popular lighting installation festival.
The East Asiatic Building functioned as the headquarters of The East Asiatic Company; a Danish company which occupies a unique position in the historical relationship between Denmark and Thailand 🇹🇭🤝🇩🇰
The East Asiatic Company was deeply involved in the commercial life of Thailand during the first half of the 20th century and became the foundation for international trade in Bangkok.
The East Asiatic building, which now takes part in “Awakening Bangkok”, is seen as one of Thailand’s important architectural landmarks.
It is registered as a national heritage site and signifies more than 100 years of close Thai-Danish relations 🇹🇭🇩🇰
The “Awakening Bangkok” festival runs from 16-25 December.

Protecting human rights is a crucial commitment for Denmark, both domestically and internationally.
Why? Because citizens living with freedom, security, and dignity will be creative, compassionate, and have a high degree of trust in each other.
From this perspective, human rights are essential for stability and peaceful coexistence, for a thriving and innovative economy, and for artistic imagination and creativity 🙌
The Nordic consular teams continue to learn together!
Last week, at the Danish Embassy, the Nordic consular teams in Thailand had an informative networking event.
Two guest speakers; Apichat Suriboonya, Deputy Commissioner of the Thai Tourist Police Bureau and Sophida Boonprakobsak, Deputy Superintendent from the Immigration Bureau, shared valuable knowledge on topics such as organisation, evacuation, rules, and regulations.
The tourist peak season is already over us, and with events like these, the consular teams are better equipped to assist Nordic citizens who might need assistance during their holiday.
Women in Diplomacy!
In the latest edition of the Gender Equality Index (2022), Denmark ranks 2nd in the EU, and Denmark continues to work towards creating safe and encouraging spaces for all genders, both in Denmark and in the world.
On 1 December the embassy of Japan in Bangkok welcomed women diplomats from the diplomatic community in Thailand.
Danish Deputy Head of Mission, Ingrid Dahl-Madsen, participated in the event and joined the interesting and inspirational discussions on how leadership and participation of women at all levels of policy-making is critical to securing gender equality and advancing a prosperous and peaceful world.
Christmas Lunch at the Danish Embassy! 🎄⛄️🇩🇰
The traditional Christmas Lunch, arranged by the Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce(DTCC), was held at the Danish Embassy last week.
Ambassador, Jon Thorgaard, welcomed the guests of the DTCC and in his speech he highlighted how pleased he is to see, how Danish companies in Thailand, continue to showcase and promote Danish values such as creating good work environments for their employees as well as continuously pushing the green agenda forward.
During the dinner there was live music, entertainment, lucky draw, and of course a traditional Danish Christmas menu. It was great to see and network with so many Danish companies with great influence in Thailand 🇩🇰🇹🇭
International Friends for Equality!🇩🇰🏳️🌈🇹🇭🌏
The Danish Embassy attended the Thailand Pride Festival under the banner ‘International Friends for Equality’ together with other diplomatic missions in Thailand.
This year’s theme was “Unity & Diversity” and focuses on greater diversity, more inclusion, and better acceptance of the LGBT+ community. The Danish Embassy is proud to stand alongside the LGBT+ communities in Thailand and around the globe and to promote everyone’s right to express themselves without the fear of violence 🏳️🌈

An informative evening with the Danish community.
On 16 November, the Danish embassy hosted an info meeting on relevant topics for Danes living in Thailand in partnership with Danes Worldwide, Danish-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Danish Women´s Network Margretheklubben.
The meeting was open to all Danes, their family members and others with connection to Denmark, and provided a unique opportunity to get an update on current rules and issues that affect Danes in Thailand.
The team from Danes Worldwide included a Legal Advisor, who answered many questions regarding family reunification, pension regulations, and retention of Danish citizenship.
The meeting had a great turn out and we would like to thank everyone who participated.
Also a big thank you to our partners as well as sponsors, Pandora and Conrads Deli, for making this event possible.
is the biggest international climate summit and runs until November 18 🌍
The climate crisis is urgent and we all need to chip in with solutions.
In Denmark, we have a long tradition of green initiatives – both large scale and small scale. We are not perfect, but we are going to keep working for a greener and more sustainable future 🌱
Let's go
Dialogue and outreach are important aspects of the consular work at the Danish embassy in Bangkok.
Last week, the consular team travelled to Hua Hin to meet with Danes living in the area for a talk about how the embassy can assist Danes with consular matters.
The event saw a great turn out and touched upon a wide range of topics such as passport renewals, visa applications, marriage and health insurance.
The Danish priest in Thailand, Christa Lund Herum, was also present to explain how the Danish church can assist Danes in Thailand.
After the meeting, the consular department also visited the Thai Tourist Police to strengthen the shared collaboration and discuss how to best prepare for the upcoming high season.
We thank everyone who showed up and participated in the meetings.
The Trade Department at the Royal Danish Embassy currently has a position available for a Thai graduate student for a period of 6 months with the possibility to extend.

𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟐𝟔 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟗𝟒𝟗 On this day the first commercial flight from Denmark to Thailand took off 🇩🇰🇹🇭✈️ Well into the 20th century, strong trade along the shipping routes formed the relationship between Denmark and Thailand, but this changed in 1949 when the first SAS flight left from Copenhagen to Bangkok. A route, which at the time “only” took 36 hours and had several stops along the way 😊 Due to Denmark’s strong interests in Thailand, the route quickly became popular and demonstrated the need for easier access between the two countries. SAS continued to fly to Thailand for the next 64 years, up until 2013, and SAS thereby played an important role in strengthening the Thai-Danish relations in more modern times.
