Helping connect people in crisis to the care they need.

The Municipal Police Training Council has approved new model guidance to assist law enforcement agencies across New York State in developing policies for the emergency transport of individuals experiencing an emotional crisis.

Developed by experts in law enforcement, mental health, medicine and law, the guidance promotes safe, lawful and compassionate responses while helping connect individuals to appropriate mental health and medical resources.

The Capital Region Crime Analysis Center was recently recognized by the Albany and Colonie Police Departments for the critical role its analysts play in supporting investigations, identifying crime patterns, and providing real-time intelligence that helps law enforcement solve cases and keep communities safe.

Congratulations to Crime Analyst Supervisor Corinne Burns, named Albany Police Department's 2024 Joan Salerno Non-Sworn Employee of the Year, and to Assistant Director Ryan Meagher, Lead Crime Analyst Peter Africano, and Crime Analyst Kristin Webster, who received the Colonie Police Department Civilian Award for their role in helping identify and locate suspects responsible for the robbery of an elderly resident.

The CRCAC was also honored with Albany PD's Law Enforcement Partnership Award for its outstanding collaboration, analytical expertise, and unwavering commitment to public safety.

Preventing gun violence takes partnership.

Yesterday, leaders from DCJS, New York State Office of Victim Services, New York State Office of Children and Family Services, and the Office of Gun Violence Prevention joined advocates and community violence intervention partners from across New York State for a roundtable discussion as part of Annual Gun Violence Awareness Albany Advocacy Day.

Hosted by NYS Assemblymember Monique Chandler-Waterman, District 58 and Senator Cordell Cleare, the conversation focused on strengthening community-based solutions, supporting those impacted by violence, and continuing the work to build safer and stronger communities across New York.
