One thing to know about the pocket rescission that illegally cancels funding already allocated by Congress is that it claws back all funding for Housing Counseling - $56 million. A small amount for a nationwide program, but it is clear that the Trump administration does not understand the importance of housing agencies in homebuying, credit building, scam avoiding, foreclosure reducing efforts in the midst of a housing crisis. One of the main drivers of our nation’s growing affordability crisis is the rising cost of housing. That’s why I’m hosting a Capital Region Housing Expo on Tuesday, August 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at SUNY Schenectady County Community College to help you get the resources you need.

This summer, Congress passed the first major housing legislation in a generation — the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act — that will take critical steps to ensure hardworking families are able to buy a home and live out their American dream.

As that legislation comes into effect, I want to make sure you have the information you need to navigate today’s housing landscape, connect with local organizations, and access resources that support safe, stable, and affordable housing for all in our communities.
