Some accident disability pensions are now being cut in half after years of overpayments. Where are the union leaders and elected TRS trustees who are supposed to be helping these retirees?

UFT members will receive a 3.5% salary increase beginning September 14.

A raise can be a good opportunity to increase your TDA contribution without feeling the full impact in your paycheck, but only if it fits comfortably within your current budget.

Because TDA contribution changes can take a paycheck or two to appear, consider making any adjustments over the summer.

Do you know what service can be purchased and added to your NYC TRS pension?

If you worked directly for a New York City or New York State public employer before becoming a TRS member, you may be able to purchase that service and add it to your pension record.

In this DYK with DK, I explain the general rules for eligible service credit purchases, how the verification process works, and what to expect when TRS sends you a cost letter.

Buying back eligible service can increase your total credited service and may have a significant impact on your retirement benefits.
