We had a blast this past weekend at our Storytime on the Bus collab with Anchorage Public Library . Songs were sung, stories were read, and our Travel Trainer even snuck in some helpful hints and tips for our future riders over three sessions of packed houses…erm, buses. Did anyone let the pigeon drive the bus? We’ll never tell.

Luckily you can find out how the story goes for yourself at our remaining Storytime on the Bus sessions scheduled throughout the summer:

🗓️Muldoon Library – 7/18 starting at 11:30 AM
🗓️Mountain View Library – 7/21 starting at 6 PM
🗓️Chugiak-Eagle River Library – 8/8 starting at 11 AM

Thanks to all who joined us for our Storytime on the Bus kickoff and we’re looking forward to the next adventure!

Don’t sleep on this evening’s PTAB meeting, which, ironically, is like an entire summer sleepaway camp condensed into monthly 1.5-hour board meeting.

There’ll be presentations, note-taking, public comments, basket weaving, kayaking…Ok, maybe not those last two, but still more than enough action to write home about.

Visit https://ow.ly/bCFE50Z8eQ5 for more on PTAB, then join us around the metaphorical campfire by popping in at City Hall or logging in virtually via Microsoft Teams.

We recently had the privilege of welcoming (what will no doubt be) the future riders, transit employees and advocates of the YMCA of Alaska for a guided field trip of our Maintenance shop. The group received the full transit experience, top to bottom, from behind the wheel to under the hood and everything in between.

The group of approximately 30 or so were well behaved, showed genuine interest and curiosity, keeping us honest and on our toes with their great questions, and fully engaged (with intermittent bursts of the Village People classic thrown in for good measure) as they were shown the inner workings of the bus and what keeps People Mover moving the community.

We were happy to play host and the group’s visit was the talk of the shop for the rest of the day, long after we loaded them up with goodie bags and sent them on their way. We hope the kids all had as much fun as we did, and we can’t wait to play with the Y-M-C-A again!
