Thursday
9:45 am: The exercise is completed.

8:30 am: This exercise is underway.

WILDFIRE EXERCISE: On Thursday, May 28, Chugach is conducting a wildfire exercise in East Anchorage in the Stuckagain/Basher area.

Between 8 am and noon there will be increased crew activity in the field and a helicopter flying intermittently. There are no power outages as a part of this exercise. This is only a drill. Thank you for your attention.

6:10 am: Repairs have been made. Power has been restored.

3:10 am: Crew found a broken cutout and is waiting on materials and additional linemen.

1:00 am: Crew is on site patrolling the line.

11:55 pm: We have an outage impacting 104 members east of Lake Otis Pkwy and north of 16th Ave. A crew has been assigned and will be en route shortly.

Will update when we have new information.

6:35 pm: Power has been restored. The outage was caused by a squirrel getting into the overhead circuit.

5:20 pm: We have an outage impacting 100 members near Wilderness Dr and Huffman Rd. A crew has been assigned and will be en route shortly.

Team Chugach hit the streets today for the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce Citywide Cleanup, picking up trash from the spaces and places around us. Proud of these employees making a difference one bag at a time!

PLEASE DON'T TRY TO REMOVE TREES WITHOUT A PROFESSIONAL: This weekend's power outage triggered by an individual trying to clear trees from a powerline using an electrical lift reminds us to review the national safety guidelines for clearing.

Tree cutting and vegetation management are required to prevent contact between overhead conductors and trees, which can cause outages, fires, or other safety hazards. Only line-clearance trained arborists are permitted to work within 10 feet of energized lines. Unqualified workers or homeowners should never attempt to cut trees or remove branches.

Saturday -

7:10: The hazard has been removed and power restored.

6:20 pm: We are working with the fire department to safely secure the individual who contacted the powerline in a lift. Once the individual is safe, we can work on restoring power. We will update when we have new information.

6 pm: This is a very serious situation. Restoration is ongoing and the fire department has been called to the scene for assistance.
We do not have an estimated time of restoration.

4 pm: We have an outage impacting about 2,000 members between east Tudor and east Dowling in the area near the Old Seward Hwy. Reports of a member using a lift and cutting trees, contacted a power line. A crew is en route.

Will update when there is new information.
