Our Chief Operating Officer, Wes MacQuilliam, enjoyed providing an Economic & Real Estate Update to attendees from across the county at a Lunch & Learn co-hosted by the Northern Anne Arundel, Greater Crofton, Greater Severna Park & Arnold, and Southern Anne Arundel Chambers of Commerce on September 15.

During the event, Wes discussed the current issues and trends shaping the local economy, previewed some of the commercial real estate developments coming to Anne Arundel, and provided a snapshot of AAEDC's programs and resources.

AAEDC was proud to serve as a sponsor of The BWI Business Partnership, Inc.'s latest Signature Breakfast, featuring Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Jay Patel, on September 17.

Our team enjoyed hearing Jay, who oversees Northrop's Engineering & Sciences sector, discuss all aspects of leadership – including the need to always adapt, connect, and communicate – as well as the importance of developing a talent pipeline. As always, we had a great time connecting with businesses and organizations from across the county as well.

Congratulations to Holly Poultry on its major expansion in Anne Arundel County!

We were proud to partner with the Maryland Department of Commerce and the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation to support the Baltimore-based company's growth, and Amy Gowan, Wes MacQuilliam, and Anita Dewling were thrilled to help celebrate the opening of its beautiful 80,000-square-foot facility in Hanover on September 14.

We're grateful for the 140 jobs that the expansion has brought to Anne Arundel County and look forward to continuing to support its growth in the years to come!

SERVICE UPDATE as of 5:18 pm on 9/14/26

Telephone services across Anne Arundel County offices have been fully restored, including all standard incoming and outgoing landline connections. This service disruption was part of a broader, regional service outage affecting the area and was not limited to county government systems.

We appreciate your patience while our Office of Information Technology worked alongside service providers to resolve this issue.

Emergency 911 services remain fully operational. If you are experiencing an emergency, please dial 911 immediately.

Anne Arundel County is currently experiencing general countywide telephone service disruptions affecting both incoming and outgoing landline calls. The Anne Arundel County Police Department non-emergency line at 410-222-8610 is functioning and available. Callers trying to reach other county offices or non-emergency lines may receive a busy or fast-busy signal.

The Office of Information Technology is actively working with service provider Verizon to identify and resolve the issue. Further updates will be posted across our official channels as information becomes available. We appreciate your patience while full service is restored.

Congratulations to Basilwood Kitchen on opening its doors in Edgewater!

We’re thrilled that Ginna Maznick decided to pursue her dream of opening a fast-casual Italian kitchen in Anne Arundel County, and our Marketing & Outreach Manager was excited to help Ginna, her family, and her staff celebrate the occasion. It was awesome to learn how committed Ginna is to making 100% of Basilwood's food from scratch and connecting with the local community (including by hiring several South River High School students!) as well.

We look forward to watching the newest restaurant in Anne Arundel thrive in the years ahead!
