EMS WEEK 2025 EVENTS! Join us on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, at 11am to at the EMS Memorial and Education Site on the capitol grounds in Augusta (off State Street—look for the array of ambulances!) to celebrate, recognize and remember during National EMS Week.

For this year’s program, current and past leaders of Maine’s Legislature and the two EMS Blue Ribbon Commissions, and next generation EMS providers-- High school EMT students from Brewer and Bethel-- will share their observations on Maine’s EMS system and its future. The gathering will also recognize and pay tribute to all who make Maine’s EMS System successful: Emergency Medical Telecommunicators, EMS Clinicians, EMS Service Leaders, Emergency Nurses and Physicians, Medical and System Directors.

We will also honor an EMS professional who gave his life in the line of duty in the past year, and remember all of our colleagues who gave their lives in the service of our citizens.

At 1pm, Maine EMS will hold its Award Ceremony inside the Capitol, in the Hall of Flags.

The public is cordially invited to attend both events. We hope to see you there!

Why is Melissa Adams smiling? As the lucky (and deserving!) winner of our virtual "door prize" drawing at the recently held Annual Membership Meeting of the Friends of EMS for Maine, she was the recipient of our overflowing basket of Maine 'holiday cheer.' REMINDER - Today's the day! Join us for our Annual Meeting which will be held by Zoom (in place of the in-person meeting normally held at the Samoset Conference, which was cancelled this year) at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, December 4th. The Zoom connection information is listed below. The meeting will take less than an hour.

You'll hear of the progress made this year in our action projects to support the Maine EMS system. These incude launching another EMS Informed Community Self-Determination project for a community with EMS in jeopardy, supporting the Maine EMS Memorial and Education Site and the Maine EMS Honor Guard, and sponsoring the Maine EMS Week celebration. The Friends website has been completely rebuilt by our webmaster, Jay Bradshaw, and a tour will be provided.

All members attending will be eligible for the Annual Meeting door prize drawing which will be the last order of business. The winner will relax even better during the holidays! 🙂
