Principle 5: Only Qualified Voters Are Allowed to Vote

Voting in North Dakota is secure with processes that ensure only qualified voters are allowed to vote. Our voter ID laws require a valid North Dakota ID, and IDs issued to non-citizens reflect their non-citizenship status. Voter rolls are checked and updated daily against data from NDDOT, Vital Records, and ND DOCR to make sure only qualified, eligible voters are able to cast a ballot.
