Hurricane Preparedness Week 2026 - Use Caution After Storms

If you evacuated, return home only when told it is safe to do so by officials.

Remain vigilant, as hazards remain. Be careful near damaged buildings, stay far away from downed power lines, and avoid flooded roads.

Clean up safely by not pushing yourself and checking on neighbors.

Use your generator safely by keeping it outside, more than 20 feet from your home.

Remain aware that help and communications may not be readily available.

The Craven County Board of Commissioners declared May 3-9 as Professional Clerks to the Boards of County Commissioners Week.

This week, we thank Abigail G. Wilson for her work as Clerk to the Craven County Board of Commissioners! Wilson exemplifies a high degree of professionalism, dedication, knowledge, and willingness to serve.

Clerks are crucial for maintaining an informed community and facilitating effective local governance. The position is required by state statute, and clerks serve as official recordkeepers of counties.
