From Tailpipe to Lap Cat 🐱🚗➡️🛋️

Korra's story began when she was found trapped in the tailpipe of a Corvette. 😱 Thanks to the quick response from Camas/Washougal Fire Department (CWFD) and Camas/Washougal Animal Control, she was rescued and immediately given medical care. 🚒💙 Unfortunately, in her desperate attempt to escape from the pipe, Korra swallowed car oil, leaving her in a weakened state upon arrival at WCGHS. She was lethargic and unable to stand, her mouth and nose were coated in oil, and she weighed less than a pound at just eight weeks old. 💔

After multiple baths, oxygen support, and an IV, our Animal Care Manager brought Korra home to monitor her progress. 🏥🙏 We weren't sure she would last the night. Once Korra finally started nibbling some food, she was placed in a medical foster home for continued treatment. 🍽️💚

Korra is part of a litter of four siblings that came from a property that regularly takes excellent care of stray cats. 🐱 This year, the number of kittens has become overwhelming, prompting the community member to request help with this entire litter. The day after Korra arrived, the rest of the litter was brought to WCGHS to receive medical care and has joined her in the same foster home. 🏡 All five will be available for adoption once they have been medically cleared. ✨

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the CWFD and CW Animal Control officers who rescued Korra from this harrowing experience. 🙏💙 She's doing incredibly well, eating all her food and socializing with her siblings. 😻 While she is progressing well, Korra has decided she'd rather be a lap cat than a car cat! 🛋️😄

On the August 4th Special Election Ballot, Proposition 6 will ask voters to renew the expiring EMS Levy for residents in unincorporated East Clark County. Voters who live in East County Fire and Rescue's service area last renewed the EMS Levy at a rate of thirty-five cents ($0.35) per $1,000 of assessed valuation in 2020. If you live in East Clark County, your fire fighters urge you to educate yourself on this proposition and vote in your best interest.
