The groundbreaking of Passmore Place Apartments marks another step forward in expanding affordable housing opportunities for seniors in rural Nevada. Once complete, this new community will provide 21 quality, affordable homes where older adults can continue living independently while staying connected to the people and places they love.

Projects like this don't happen overnight—they're built through strong partnerships, community support, and a shared commitment to investing in rural Nevada's future.

We're proud to celebrate the grand opening of Pioche Apartments, transforming an aging WWII-era housing complex into 32 modern, energy-efficient, affordable homes for rural Nevadans. This nationally recognized redevelopment reflects what's possible when local leadership, strong partnerships, and a shared commitment to housing come together.

From owner-paid utilities and solar energy to fiber internet and thoughtful design inspired by Pioche's rich history, this community was built with residents—and the future—in mind.

The transformation of Pioche Apartments represents more than the completion of an affordable housing development—it's an investment in the future of rural Nevada. The project delivers 32 modern, energy-efficient apartment homes, replacing aging housing with safe, high-quality residences designed to serve the community for years to come. Pioche Apartments helps preserve long-term affordability, ensuring that families and seniors have access to quality housing in the community they call home.

This commitment to innovation and community impact has already earned national recognition. Earlier this year, Pioche Apartments received the HOME Award of Excellence from the National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (NALHFA), recognizing the development for its innovation, lasting impact, and excellence in expanding affordable housing opportunities.

Thanks to strong partnerships and a shared commitment to housing affordability, more Nevada families are finding pathways to homeownership.

We're proud to work alongside the Nevada Housing Division, the Nevada Department of Business and Industry, lenders, developers, and community partners to expand access to affordable housing opportunities across the state.

Through Launchpad, Nevada Rural Housing has helped 105 rural Nevada families achieve homeownership since March 2025, and we're excited to continue building on that impact.

🏡 Together, we're creating more opportunities for Nevadans to call a place home.

🏠 Last week, Nevada Department of Business and Industry Director Dr. Kristopher Sanchez approved the transfer of $221.5 million in Private Activity Bond authority to support affordable housing development, homeownership programs, and down payment assistance initiatives administered through the Nevada Housing Division.

These investments help expand housing opportunities for Nevada families by supporting homeownership programs, down payment assistance initiatives, and the development and preservation of affordable single-family and multifamily housing across Nevada.

📈 The impact of these programs can already be seen in communities across Nevada. Since 2019, more than $1.5 billion in bonding authority has supported State of Nevada Housing Division programs, helping support the development or rehabilitation of more than 6,400 housing units statewide while expanding housing opportunities and homeownership pathways for Nevada families.

🤝 Strong partnerships continue to drive these efforts. Nevada Rural Housing Authority recently transferred an additional $137 million to support the continuation of the Launchpad program in partnership with the Nevada Housing Division. Since March 2025, Launchpad has provided $35.7 million in loans to 105 rural Nevada families pursuing homeownership.

Together, the Department of Business and Industry, the Nevada Housing Division, Nevada Rural Housing Authority, local governments, lenders, developers, and community partners are helping create more pathways to housing attainability and homeownership across Nevada.

We’re proud to share that our Homeownership Programs Manager, Kevin Hickey, has been elected to the Board of Trustees for the Silver State Fair Housing Council—a nonprofit dedicated to promoting fair housing and eliminating housing discrimination across Nevada.

In his role at NRH, Kevin leads efforts to expand access to affordable homeownership opportunities throughout rural communities, working closely with lenders, partners, and homebuyers to open more doors statewide.
This appointment reflects his ongoing commitment to ensuring all Nevadans have access to safe, fair, and attainable housing.
