🚨Temporary Closure: Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park will temporarily close November 2–8, 2026, to allow staff to complete essential maintenance and improvement projects. The park will reopen for normal operations on Monday, November 9.

During the weeklong closure, staff will tackle painting, road maintenance, lawn and pasture care, and detailed cleaning to keep the park’s facilities and grounds in great shape for future visitors.

Thank you for your patience as we care for Nevada’s state parks and prepare them for your next adventure!

Nevada’s newest state park officially has a name! But how do you announce news this exciting?

We turned to our Jr. Rangers for help writing the script. And who better to ask than the students at Riverview Elementary School, right next door to the new park?

Tune in bright and early on Nevada Day, October 31, to see their script come to life and discover the official name of Nevada’s 28th state park!

Special thanks to the first and second graders at Riverview Elementary! Also shout out to the Nevada Division of Forestry and Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for helping with this announcement.

28 parks by 2028 🌲🏕️

Meet Vince, he’s the new Director of the Nevada Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) and on a quest to visit all 28 Nevada State Parks by 2028.

Our first stop was Valley of Fire State Park. We explored the new visitor center, helped staff with trail work, and found a new obsession with roasted Twinkies!

Nevada’s trails are getting a plan, and we want your input! 🥾🚵

Nevada Division of State Parks and Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation just launched a public survey that will help us develope the first-ever Statewide Trails Plan.

The plan will guide future trail development, access and management throughout the state, and support a range of outdoor recreation like hiking, biking, OHV use, and more!

Make your voice heard and take the Statewide Trails Plan survey by November 30, 2026!

Southern Nevada is still experiencing the effects of Tropical Storm Rachel. Be prepared for possible closures and hazards as parks tackle issues that arise from storms like this.

Always remember to check weather forecasts, road conditions and park alerts before heading out. Plan ahead at parks.nv.gov.

🚨Update 10/16/26: parts of the Las Vegas Wash and Big Dig Trails remain closed. The visitor center, Megafauna Trail, and portions of the longer trails are open (creating a 2.3-mile loop). Reach out to the park for the most up to date information 702-533-7819.
