Walter J. Hersee, historian, writer, and photographer based in Sturbridge, will be at the Charlton Public Library on Tuesday, June 16 at 6:00 pm. He will talk about his book, To Defend All That Is Dear, which documents for the first time the full service of every known Sturbridge soldier of the American Revolution. He believes that "An unexpected benefit of this research was demonstrating how modern tools—many unavailable even a few years ago—can uncover forgotten service and correct long-standing assumptions. Our town’s Honor Roll had not been updated since the 1880s, and many believed no changes were possible. That belief has been proven wrong."
