Learning to swim is more than a summer activity. It is a life-saving skill. Through the “Learning to Swim with Dad” program, the Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative and the
Greater Cleveland Ymca are helping fathers and children learn water safety together while strengthening family bonds. Drowning is a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 14. This program gives kids critical skills and confidence in and around water. When fathers are involved, children do better across nearly every measure of well-being.

Thank you to everyone who joined MetroHealth's 3rd Annual Gun Violence Awareness Day. A special thank you to Cuyahoga County Office of Violence Prevention Administrator Myesha Watkins for moderating today's panel discussion and helping lead an important conversation on the ecosystem of violence prevention. Today's conversations reinforced an important truth: preventing violence requires all of us. Through collaboration, education, outreach and support, we can build safer, healthier communities for every resident. Together, we continue the work of turning awareness into action.

Friday is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. 🧡 Today, Cuyahoga County, its Office of Violence Prevention, and others joined community partners to raise awareness about the impact of gun violence and highlight the importance of prevention, support, and opportunity for young people and families.

We invite residents to wear orange in honor of those whose lives have been affected by gun violence and to show support for safer, healthier communities.
