The Members of the Collegeville Fire Company would like to offer our condolences to the Richard G. Cassey family, a life member and former Chief Engineer, who passed away on Saturday, September 5th.

When asked how he would like us to remember his Dad, Rich Jr. shared the following:

Pop was a fire fighter and ambulance driver in Phoenixville and Norristown before joining Collegeville Fire Company. Pop was always most proud of being a Collegeville Fire Fighter where he was Firefighter of the year in 1979 and served as Chief Engineer under Chief Dennis Parker. He enjoyed participating in the annual minstrel shows and was always very fond of the Collegeville Community.

He and his wife Cindy moved to Maine and opened The Heathwood Inn, (a Bed and breakfast) in Bar Harbor. They retired and sold the Inn in 2005 and moved to Port Charlotte Florida where he passed on
05 September 2026.

Happy Labor Day from Station 34 and the Collegeville Fire Company! Today is dedicated to working as little as humanly possible, and we fully support your right to stay firmly planted in your favorite lawn chair. While you're out there mastering the art of doing nothing, please keep a safe distance between your grill and anything flammable—because as much as we love serving our community, we'd rather not interrupt our holiday weekend (or yours) to extinguish a rogue hamburger fire. Have a safe, relaxing, and fire-free Monday, and remember we’re always on call if you actually do need us!

🔥Late post🔥

Mondays for us are days to sharpen our skills. This past Monday the crew worked on ropes and the stokes. While we may not use rigging all that often, it’s because of that it is imperative to train regularly in doing it.

🚌Welcome back to the books, Collegeville! 🚌

As our local students trade their swimsuits for backpacks, we want to wish everyone a fantastic and safe start to the new school year. For the rest of us commuters, those breezy, wide-open summer morning drives are officially on hiatus. You’ve probably already noticed the sudden influx of minivans and the return of the morning rush hour. Please plan ahead, pack your patience, and give yourself a few extra minutes each morning so you aren't treating Main Street like a qualifying lap at Daytona just to get to work on time.

With the start of school comes the triumphant return of the magnificent yellow school bus. As your local fire company, we certainly appreciate a large vehicle with flashing lights, but we need you to respect theirs just as much as you respect ours. When those red lights flash and the stop arm extends, it is a legal requirement to stop completely in all directions—not a polite suggestion, and certainly not a challenge to squeeze past before the doors open. Give the buses plenty of room, and remember that passing a stopped school bus will earn you a hefty fine and a very uncomfortable conversation with local law enforcement.

Finally, keep your eyes peeled for our youngest residents who are now out in full force navigating crosswalks, sidewalks, and neighborhood bus stops. Kids are wonderful, but they can also be highly unpredictable, especially when fueled by sugary breakfast pastries and nervous back-to-school energy. They might dart out into the road without looking or get distracted chatting with their friends, so put down the phone and stay hyper-vigilant in residential areas and school zones. From all of us at the Collegeville Fire Company, have a safe, happy, and successful school year!

🥰Thank you, Again🥰

Apparently our crew was too busy putting on an amazing car show to take pictures for the “Social Media Team”, but we wouldn’t have it any other way! We can not thank everyone enough for coming out last week and showing off, from the vehicles to our vendors to our Community. It was an amazing turn out with close to 300 cars on Main Street! We hope that every one of you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Special thanks to JM Duncan, Lisa Parker Rush, Joseph Groarke and Traffic Dan News for providing some pictures to share. If you have any slick shots, drop them in the comments!
