A shelter has been opened at 3542 Western Ave. for those who are displaced due to the flood. This shelter has 24/7 staffing for intake. Please don't sleep in your car. We can arrange transportation for school children to and from school. Please share this post to get the word out. Flyers will be circulating throughout the city and at distribution points. If you know some please have them call the (765) 222-1530 or they can walk in 24/7. We will have showers starting tomorrow and laundry facility trailer.

FSSA received approval to extend the deadline to request Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program replacement benefits for all 53 counties impacted by the Governor’s disaster emergency for the disaster event on Aug. 11. The deadline for all these counties is now Aug. 31, 2026.

Households that receive SNAP benefits who lost food due to storm damage or power outages may be eligible for replacement benefits. Affected individuals will need to submit an affidavit, available at on.in.gov/SNAP-Affidavit, for replacement benefits. The affidavit must be submitted by the above deadline and the loss (due to power outage, flood, etc.) must be verified.

Our Executive Director Charmin Gabbard took $500 to Walmart Pharmacy in Fayette County to help flood victims who may not currently have the resources they need to obtain their medications. If you or someone you know have been affected by the flood and need help with medications, please utilize this amazing resource if you truly need it.

The Connection Cafe staff is also still here to help connect you with available resources. Our free clothing closet is still located at our downtown building as well.
